Question Is it too much to ask?

For a car company to design the mirrors with a hole drilled in the bottom for water to drain out?

No matter what you do, water gets trapped behind the mirrors and ends up down the side of your car the first time you go anywhere after you wash

Anyone have a solution for this?

I always fold the mirrors in and allow them to drain a bit. That minimizes it a little. I usually do all my detailing in the evening and the car sits all night so I haven't had the same problem. I suppose you could do the leaf blower thing but I've never tried it.

Electric leaf blower is the trick!

Mirrors, door seams, tail lights, grilles - wherever water hides. I do notice a BIG difference on the way water sticks to a non-Zaino'ed car. Not nearly as much fun!

Keep a detail spray and a couple of towels in the car to clean those up. Happens on all cars somewhere.

Leaf blower !!!! (followed by cotton towels for finish). Just bought one after getting into this forum and I am an immediate convert. Relatively cheap ($30-$40) and it's not about making the job easier for me as I enjoy cleaning / detailing my car but it just does such a great job getting into the wheels, mirrors and every body joint on the whole car - places you would never think of holding so much water. Need to finish off with a final towel dry for perfect results.

My solution,

Shop Vac w/ a crevace tool. (hi suction) gets most of the water out.

Those that use a leaf blower, be careful!! I used to use one till it blew "something" and put a small chip in the paint of one of my older cars.

HAH! I hate when this happens. Also, when you lift the hatch and all the water comes dripping down and the amount of water collected by the kick plates. ARGH!!
