Default I'm fed up with CG, i need this Zaino stuff...

Does anyone know any Zaino distributors in Florida? Too bad I'm not back in NJ still, i know exactly where they're located... I know i can order from the wesite by mailing a check, but that would take forever.

This CrystalGuard stuff has me mad. I don't care what everyone is saying, the crap doesn't come off. My car has this nasty film over it that won't come off, and i can't buff certain parts out. I've tried everthing. This is my third coat, i've let it sit, i've tried buffing it out w/ a dry towel, a wet towel, washing it again, waxing it with normal wax, and today i tried Mothers detailer to get the crap off. I'm mad. I'm just going to go to Zaino like everyone says.
Also, what should i use to just strip everything off the paint to start over again?
Thanks

Dishwashing soap will strip everything off, including all waxes, polish, glazes. Wash twice to make sure CGQ is off completely.

I ordered mine and it only took two weeks. The best thing about the Zaino (sure there are others too) is that you can wax the car in the sun and it will come off. At least that is my experience.

Look for the many threads that Dr. Bonz has written, and you will find a plethora of information.

could try and find a dealer in florida, who you could pick it up from, call or email zaino themselves for a reference to a distributor in your area, if there are any. there were none in atlanta tho.

otherwise you could always have somone overnight it to you, or next day. didnt take 2 weeks for me, went out in like 2 or 3 days, and then the time it takes to ship. if you call them directly you might be able to convince them to do it quickly.

also might want to consider talking to takeo to see what the problem is the the CG, Im running low on zaino and was thinking about trying the new stuff, but I hadnt heard of this problem, you cant apply it in the sun or something? thatd be a problem in GA.

I just put on my second coat of CGQ on my Stealth. I posted the first layer pics and my review in this thread:

Dr Bonz Chrystal Guard Experiment

While I was able to get it off, it was MUCH harder than Zaino to remove. I had to buff like a mother and broke a good sweat doing it. The shine was very nice however. It seems pretty durable as well. I had the pleasure of having a bird relieve himself on my hood and it was on there for about 3 days. When I washed it tonight, it rinsed right off with no residual stain.

The car feels VERY smooth to the touch and it is actually hard to even leave a finger print on it. I like the results.....BUT:

It just didn't blow me away like the Zaino shine and I don't care what anyone says, Zaino is EASIER to use!

Everyone thinks Zaino is hard to use because the steps involved seem difficult but I promise you, like anything else, once you do it, it becomes second nature and quite simple.

The CGQ takes less time to do since there are only a few steps but Zaino is much easier to remove.

I offer this thread as a comparison to see how my Stealth looked the first time I used Zaino.

zaino needs to refine their initial process. its very intimidating, my whole family wants to use the zaino, but I remind them about the clay, and all that, they remember me outside for like 9 hours working. and they say never mind.

but now that its over, I put wax on in about 15 minutes, and take it off in 10min the next morning. its on my car drying as I type. way faster than caranuba wax that they all use. and its just plain easy to use... need to use Z5 instead of Z2 tho. swirl marks are appearing faster than I can wax.

CG is a ***** to remove w/ a standard 100% cotton towel.

BUT use a microfiber towel and it is a breeze. If there are some areas that are tough, use a damp MF towel. I now have 3 coats of CG (on top of 7+ coats of Zaino) on my car and the shine and depth is the best I've ever seen. Including the 20+ coats of Zaino I put on my old dark blue Mercedes CLK.

I agree Ares, that is exactly what I do as well. Zaino SEEMS like it takes a long time but most of it is simply waiting for the product to dry. If you use ZFX, that time is negligible. You can simply do the interior or the tires or the glass and when you are done with that, take off the Zaino.

If you don't use ZFX (and many times I do not), I put the Z-2 or the Z-5 on at night and in the morning I take it off.

It is simply the easiest product I have ever used to apply and to remove.

I have done the CG a few times and I like the looks, I agree it is not like unbelieveable but it looks fine to me. But I am not having the problems some of you guys are stating, so maybe I am am doing something wrong, I do the following:

1. Wet car
2. Spray CG wash
3. Clean car with mitt or micro fiber
4. Rinse
5. Spray CG
6. Immediately spread using microfiber
7. Rinse immediately after
8. Dry with Big blu towel

I don't get a film or have to buff anything, so that leaves 2 questions, is this the right way or am I not leaving any CG on the car?

Just about all major wax and polish makers now make and recommend using a clay bar for the best starting surface before applying their polishes and waxes, Clay bars are not exclusive to the Zaino process, claying is just something we recommend at Zaino, it not a HAVE to process.

This is what I do..

1) Rinse car with hose only
2) Wash with CG Wash
3) Rinse soap off (even though you can't tell it's soaped)
4) Wash with a more "Foamy" soap, I use RainX Wash
5) Rinse off
6) Spray CGQ one area at a time
7) Wipe area, do next area.
8) After entire car is done, gently go over the entire car with a quick buffing.

Westpak: Did you have any Zaino on the car before you did all that? Rod stated that it might be a problem for we Zaino users that try to put CGT on top of Zaino.

As far as rinsing it like you did, that is exactly what I did. Tako sent a hint paper with the CG and it said if you are having trouble buffing it out (hazing), you should just rinse the car with water and dry/buff it out again. It helped but didn't completely end the hazing.

Dr. Bonz,

I just applied my 4th coat of Zaino this weekend, and I am almost out of the ZFX and the deatiling spray.

When I reorder, should I stick with the ZFX or go with the Z1?

This last order was my first and I have not used the Z1 ever.

Also, I am in Texas where it is starting to heat up now (I know that can affect drying time).

Thanks for the info,
Richard

Bonz, no Zaino on mine, all I had done to that point was 1 application of All in One Klasse followed by 3 applications of P21S carnuba paste wax.

Save money, and use neither. Now that you have a good foundation of Z-2, you don't need the Z-1 (which helps get the Z-2 bonded to the paint), and if you only apply 1 coat per day (you shouldn't need more at this point), you don't need the quick-dry feature of the ZFX. Just put "raw" Z-2 on, go have a cold beverage, then come back and wipe the Z-2 off. My evening ritual used to be: wash, dry, Z-6, then Z-2. After that I put the car (and myself) to bed, then wiped the Z-2 off in the morning. Leaving Z-2 on the car overnight is no problem (as long as it's parked in a garage). I've left it on for up to a week with no ill effects.

Also, I am in Texas where it is starting to heat up now (I know that can affect drying time).
If you are polishing during the day, yes, the heat and lack of humidity will speed up the drying time. Thin coats of Z-2 is the key to fast drying.

Doug - Thanks for the info. Do you still put Z6 on after you take off the Z2? Or is it ok just to do it before you put it on?

Also, I remember talking to you on another post about pollen sticking to my car, I think it may be my color of Chrome Silver. My wilfe has a pewter colored new Altima, and I never see pollen on it.

THanks, Richard

The prep work, including claying is NOT a Zaino thing. It is something that should be done regardless of what product you plan to use if you want the optimum results.

I've been using Zaino for a year+ now on a couple of different cars, and have never used ZFX. If it is warm enough, an hour or two break between coats works fine anyway, and if it is cold, the overnight garage wait works, too.

I ALWAYS use Z-6 just before putting polish on. That makes sure I don't try to polish over something that managed to elude me when I washed the car. While I'm wiping off the Z-6, I'm inspecting the finish.

Once I've wiped off the final coat of Z-2, I'll usually finish with a light mist of Z-6, again I'm inspecting the finish, looking for any spots where I didn't completely wipe off the polish residue.

Also, I remember talking to you on another post about pollen sticking to my car, I think it may be my color of Chrome Silver. My wilfe has a pewter colored new Altima, and I never see pollen on it.
Yeah, it's a color thing - some colors hide pollen better than others. One of the benefits of Zaino is that the pollen isn't going to stick to the polish, so you can do a quick wipe with a CCD and finish up with some Z-6 to get all the pollen off. I used to do that every morning I drove the black car - it only took 5 minutes, and it made a big difference.
