Just put on first set of aftermarket rims...
A superior one-step wax is all that is needed. The rear wheels need little extra care. The front wheels, because of brake dust, will need some potent cleaning. The cleaning removers wax, so you most likely wax them twice as often as the rear.
I just recently used "Wheel Wax" and while it is a pain to apply, they work wonders. I applied two coats of wheel wax to my rims every month, and they not only help protect them. When it comes time to wipe off the massive amounts of brake dust my AP racing bbk + axis ultimate pad combo creates, it makes all the time I spent waxing them worth it.
