Default Best Tire Protectant/Gel products

Opinions please, what wheel and tire products do you prefer? What has the best shine? What does not rub off when touched?

I got an Advanced Auto Parts brand generic spray. I actually like it better than most products because I find that it gives a nice dark color, instead of a glossy, plasticey shine.

Detailing the tires? There are plenty of suggestions in the detailing forum.

We have been using the Zaino tire stuff in our shop and are pretty happy with it. Like their wax, the more coats you put on the better it looks.

I just bought this stuff:
DuPont Tire Shine
http://www.partsamerica.com/productd...egoryCode=3308
because its water based I believe, and doesn't have petroleum or whatever that browns your tires. Had a big problem with my tires browning from "protectants" on my Accord.

For the Dupont, it says just spray on clean, cool tires, and you don't need to wipe, but I found it did drip a bit until dry, but it looks really nice and isn't ridiculously shiny, just kinda glossy and nice looking.

The "browning" was caused by silicone in the product you were using. Today, most stuff doesn't contain silicone for that reason.

if your tires turned brown, I scrubbed the crab out of them with a brush + soap, then I used tire foam... it has stayed really black, but not 'glossy' which is what i wanted... they just look clean.

poorboys has some nice stuff as well.

Turbo Wax Tire Shine. Doesn't sling off, lasts very well even in harsh conditions, gives great finish.

I picked up a bottle of "Wet Jet" at Pepboys last week. I was skeptical, being that it was on the bottom shelf almost hidden from view, but it works well.

I have used alot of different products on tires over the years and between the Meguiars gels and Wet Jet, I am all set.

Wet Jet comes in an aerosol spray can and claims to keep a high gloss shine for weeks, just like Meguiars. I have not personally experienced any tire product lasting that long, but for the time it does (about a week) last I have been satisfied.

Would it become an issue if the tire protectant get on to the rims?

+1 this stuff is great and you can apply as much or as little shine as you want depending on how much of the gel you use. In fact for a touch up I just run the applicator back over the tires without adding anymore gel and it'll last for weeks. Great stuff!
