dull hazed paint and swirls! PLEASE HELP!
heres the quick story, i took my car to get it clay-barred because it had paint over spray on it(03 super black base). well all is good when he gets done and it the car is smooth as ice(this is in the evening around 5pm in Tennessee) well the next day(today) i go out and the sun is shining and im thinking im getting ready to cruise and show off the Z, wrong
there are big swirls all over the car and dull looking as if he had taken a brillo pad and scratched the whole damn thing. i've tried washing with soap and water, claybarring myself this time, nu finish polish....is there anything out there that i can do without having to take this to a professional(which i will have him see it again this week to see what the F he did to my car..) in the shade the thing is beautiful, but when the sun hits its almost an eyesore

if you think you can just get a whole car clay barred then go out for a drive the next day, you got your info wrong. Claybar basically strips off everything on the paint leaving you with a finish that needs to be polished out. Claybar can be really harsh on black paint if you don't know what you are doing. You are basically dragging dirt particles all over your car. That's why you are suppose to remold the clay when it gets dirty. The person who did your car/or yourself, probably just didn't do it properly. Black is very unforgiving. You would have to use some type of machine to get the swirls and scratches out. There is no way you can use your hand .
BTW, everything in the shade is beautiful. That's why most people on here i see , take pics of their cars in the shade. I have black so i know. But mine looks gorgeous in the sun as well. Just get yourself a simple porter cable and polish your whole car with it.

Machine rubbing compound with a buffer (will burn/cut paint if not careful), 3M Finesse finishing compound, hand glaze, hand polish/swirl remover, wax, sealer. In that order. Goodluck, someone washed my car and was not careful once, took me 20 hours to fix everything and make it swirl free back to showroom condition.
I was bent at that person for quite some time.

ok thanks for the replies, im gonna take it back to him when i get off work tommorrow and see what he says. I dont think clayed it though because there is still a large amount of overspray. I clayed the side panels today and if i knew it were that simple i would have done the whole freaking car myself. i was just scared because i have never done anything like that before.....i guess we learn from our mistakes....just hope i can get this car looking how it should....thanks again guys
Sorry to hear about your experience. Superblack350Z provided you some good insight on some things you can do to help and fix the problem. You'll probably need a good set of polishes at the medium and light cutting level. The polishes will also help remove oxidation and other imperfections to restore a deep and glossy clear coat. If you're looking for a specific solution here is what I recommend.
