Default Meguiars Question

Question for you Meguiar's users:

1. I've seen mention of #7 polish and #24 wax and Gold Class. What is the difference between #24 and Gold Class? Is one wax the other synthetic?

2. Can you get good results with the #7 without a buffer...just by hand?

My Z is brand new. I'm not sure I need to polish it, will it make a difference?

Biggest complaint I've always had with other waxs (Mother's, Nu-Finish, etc.) is the residue and getting the stuff on rubber parts no matter how careful I am. Is there a better solution?

Sorry for such basic questions. I just want to put a nice shine and protection on my new baby.

Well, I got some answers from Meguiars website. I guess #7 and #26 are for machine buffing only.

I use Gold Class and it gives me a good shine. To remove any wax I get on rubber or plastic I use Griot's speed shine. Takes it off no problem.

the "Gold" is supposed to be their "most reflective car wax in Meguiar's long history." I always liked their products... I did however just buy a bunch of that zaino stuff.. I have to try it since it rains here every day!! ok well today is nice!!

I switched from Gold Class on my last car to Zaino. I think you'll be pleased with your new purchase. Gold Class is a nice wax, just didn't last long enough and was harder on/off than the Zaino. Z5 really helped me get rid of the swirls in my 5 year old black GTP, too, that I never could hide to my tastes with Meguiars products that I had tried.
