Default Exhaust cleaning (cant search!)

Okay, I'm sure that this topic has been brought up before, but I havent been able to do a freakin search for the last week.

What is the best cleaning product/process for getting the black exhaust residue off the crome tail pipes?

Thanks!

Just use a metal polish, Mothers Mag and Alum. (little red and white tub sold at WalMart) will work fine.

Polish seems like something to use after they are clean to shine and protect. Does it also remove the thin layer of black crap that has evolved on the bottom of the pipe?

Thanks all.

I use Mothers Metal Cleaner. You just put it on let it sit for a minute and then just wipe it back off and gets all the black exhaust crap off of it.
