Default How to remove crystal guard?

I used the crystal guard, took me only 1 hour to do. But I did not noticed any big difference. I am going to try the regular wax(maybe the gold class from Meguiar), but wonder how do I remove the crystal guard that I applied before.

Thanks,

Can someone answer this question? I've seen this asked many times but it's always been avoided.

Can this stuff be taken off like wax with a simple Dawn wash? Or do you actually have to have it buffed off?

I remember reading in one thread (probably the "say goodbye to wax forever" main thread) that there is or was a CG remover but that nobody ever bought it so it may or may not still be available.

If you can't notice a difference and it isn't beading water (my experience) then why worry? Just apply your favorite wax over the top of it.

Saw this on autopia.com (detailers site)

CG removal , very easy using 3M general purpose adhesive remover

Also here is a review of a professional detailer:
"Ok here it is the long awaited review of Crystal Gaurd (CG).

I will start by saying I had a very open mind when I heard about this product , some of the claims my be a bit to swallow but I figured I'd test the product and see it for myself.

I tested it on my Silver 2001 Tacoma crew cab. Paint was in good shape nothing spectaular. I preped using Menzerna polishes , . I got the paint in excellent shape there are some acid rain marks on the hood that you can find if you lean down and tilt your head in the right light. So I thought that was a good surface to apply to.

Application: I used the allternative method on the bottle a damp applicator , I used foam sprayed with water. Very easy to apply and a very little goes a long way , it went on easier when the applicator was nice and moist not wet but almost.

Dry/ Cure Time: Instructions say wait 2-3hrs. I waited exatly 3hrs and removed it with microfiber towels , I found it very easy to remove , wipe and buff thats it. I found the wait time to be alittle much for me 3hrs each for the base & top coats. I have sinced talked to Tako and he tells me that 30min is acceptable but the longer you wait the better. I will be testing this soon.

First impression: The day after I applied CG it rained so the first view I got was on a misty grey day. Funny even though it was a bad day out the truck looked great , shine was excellent , depth was also good for a sealant. I was impressed that much truck looked brighter , it's metallic paint and CG made the metallic really jump out. It also gave some great deep reflections.

First wash: I used just water , everything came off with ease , surface was not a slick as with other products. I gave it a once over with CG quick , kind of a QD type product , it made the surface very slick and it stayed that way even after the next wash.

Topped with S100: I couldn't resist I had to see how CG topped. Wow , doulbe wow , this combo looks great on my truck very wet looking and very deep. The reflections are just wondeful. I have yet to wash my truck this week and it still looks great.

Final thoughts: I will be doing another test on a darker car sometime soon and I will give my impressions of CG on a dark vehicle. I defently think CG is a worthly contender in the sealant department. I would place it in the same category as Zaino , Klasse , Blackfire. All of these are great products some like one others another , CG will be liked by yet others , it is a very good product and I would reccomend giving it a try. The price is higher than some of the others , where this product shines is ease of use and the fact that alittle product does alot. I did my whole truck with a third of each bottle.

So there you have it , my humble unbiased thoughts of Crystal Guard."

near the end of the thread, the guy (detailbarn) takes off CG to reapply Zaino. It appears the CG looks TOO GOOD and his customers would expect that type of shine, which I assume he doesn't get w/ Zaino.

Here is that post too:
"I will be doing more testing next week , it will be on a 2002 Ford Taurus , harvest gold , which is the darker car. The car has never been detailed and it a great canidate for before and after pics , which I will be posting.

As far as my original test on my silver tacoma , as of yesterday CG was holding up excellent but I was running into a problem , since I use my vehicle to show customers what to expect on their vehicle I had a problem saying that this is waht they would be getting and it really wasn't so I had to remove the CG from my truck and put Zaino back on.

CG removal , very easy using 3M general purpose adhesive remover.

Before I removed it I washed it and did some inspections , no water spots and it had rained a few times and I wasn't able to dry my truck after the rain. Small micro marring by my door handle from closing the truck.

One other note CG does not attract very much dust at all."
