Question Have CG now, want to Zaino. How should I prep??

Even though I've had the Z only a couple of months, I've tried Gold Class and CrystalGuard Quick already. Now I'm ready to give Zaino a try. I guess DrBonz has finally convinced me!

I've only got one coat of CG on the car, but I know that Dawn won't remove it. Is there anything special I need to do to get ready for the Zaino, or should I just wash with Dawn, claybar and then do Zaino? I've read about using 3M adhesive remover to get rid of CG, but I'm not too sure I want to put that on my finish!

Thanks!

You are right, you don't want to use that.

If you have an orbital polisher, the safest way is to use some 3M Perfect -it swirl remover. That will remove CG as well as really get your paint in top notch condition for Zaino.
It is worth the time and expense to get/use this safe method.

Unless you are VERY experienced in using solvents on paint, please don't try 3M adhesive remover. You can damage your paint SOOOO fast.

I would just try to wash with Dawn and use a claybar with Dawn as your lube for the clay (a solution of Dawn and water that is). I think that will remove the CG just fine.

Thanks Doc! For some reason I knew you'd pipe in on this one!

I guess I'm about to join the Zaino club!

BillR- thanks for your input, too.

I've spoken with someone who knows and was told that CG will come off with a good claying and I figured Dawn would help as well.

Go for it!
