my windshield is showing fine scatches and has road contaminates that are making driving in the rain difficult to see. any tips? I know rainX will help but I want see how to get the oil and other residue out. I thought about break cleaner because that takes everything off but might be a little aggressive. might try that new glass stuff but anyone have success with making visibilty like new. thanks guys.
I had this same damn problem for the longest time. I finally found out that if you use a clay bar on the windshield and then follow up with windex it will get it out completely. I tried brake cleaner, degreaser, everything and nothing else worked. So, the anwer to your question is. THE CLAY BAR.
I would suggest calling your insurance company, they will often replace the glass for little to no cost. If you want a cheaper solution try the Glass Science Kit (Includes Glass Scrub and Rain Clear Gel). The Glass Scrub deep cleans the micro pores and fine scratches. This is often where moisture clings to and smearing occurs. I then coat the glass with the Rain Clear Gel. It helps fill in micro pores and seal the glass. It forces moisture to bead up and roll off the glass with ease. This greatly improves visibility and your safety, while it works great in rain and snow!
