Oh God, not again.

There was a heated discussion on this product in a thread started by 2wicked4u. It was titled something like: worlds shiniest car no zaino or crystal guard. Here it is:

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=37342

On the other hand, the patented 5 Star Shine doesn’t simply lay on top of your paint, it instead protects your paint with PTFE (the same substance that makes nonstick cookware so slippery) for unbeatable shine and protection that can last for years! In fact, the heat from the sun acts as a bonding agent to provide even more effective protection.
PTFE is "Teflon" and we've gone round and round on this. Teflon is of NO VALUE WHATSOEVER on a car's paint. It needs to be bonded to whatever surface it is applied to using EXTREME heat and the sun shining on the car is NO WHERE near hot enough to bond it. That is a joke!

This substance is used in cookware to give it nonstick properties. Not only does it repel dirt like crazy, keeping your car incredibly clean, but when you go to wash your car, you only need to hose it down, and any dirt on the surface will come off when you dry it.
If there is still dirt on your car WHEN YOU ARE DRYING IT, you are going to scratch the crap out of your paint!

...PTFE is one of the slickest substances known to humankind!
Not nearly as slick as the ad agency who wrote this ad!

Don't get me wrong, this stuff might shine your car nicely and it might even last long. I just tend to scrutinize a product that needs to resort to ads like this. When they stoop to new lows to sell their stuff, you have to wonder why.

Don't get me wrong, I did and do appreciate your info. With the info you've given me, I'm convinced the product is not worth it. Thanks again.

Doc you don't let up.
He didn't know we had this arguement because I did not mentiion the products name throughout our thread. (Remember)

"Stoop to new lows", means they advertised in one way and were unsuccessful so they had to try something new.

You, me, neither one of us knows how they advertised or if they did in the past.

"Can't bond to the car unless under extreme heat."

You are putting anything with teflon in the same category, that's not correct, oil based paints are different then water colors...no????

Your opinion on Zaino is valued here at MY350Z.com. Why??
Because you know the product so well, and we respect you for that.
You know nothing of 5starshine yet you sterotype it time after time.
You have to wash your car with 5star shine car wash (no they dont charge you for it) before you apply 5 star shine. The wash charges the paint positively or negatively (not sure) and then the opposite charge 5star shine is applied. This creates the bond. The meager heat from the sun helps to maintain it. It could never create the bond, but it could maintain it.

Use it once on something, I'll pay for it, and then comment on it 6 months later.

5 star shine is nothing to me, but after your non-stop bashing (which you call pointing out the facts, which are so biased it's funny) my goal is to now let as many people know about it as possible.

Read the last thread and out of my multiple posts, I don't think I said the name once, maybe once at introduction, but I do not remember.,so don't ever accuse me of pushing some product.

Too annoyed to spell check, so Doc point em'out.

Here's some more teflon debunking info from a non-zaino source.

http://www.meguiars.com.au/Get_Schooled23.htm

for those of you who don't want to click the link:

Professionals consider "Teflon" formulas to be empty hype. Even the maker of Teflon (DuPont) issued the following statement:

"The addition of a Teflon fluoropolymer resin does nothing to enhance the properties of a car wax. We have no data that indicates the use of Teflon is beneficial in car waxes.

" Meguiar's does not make any products containing Teflon.
If Teflon even remotely helped a car look better and protect it, don't you think DuPont would be all over that market trying to make money?

WOAH, Shaq, Take it easy man. I'm not bashing YOU at all. To be honest, (and I thought I made this clear above) this stuff might really be a good product but all I am saying is that when a product (ANY product) has to resort to using catch words/phrases like "PTFE" or "contracted with the US Navy" or "slipperiest substance known to man" or "only product with a US patent" (do I need to go on here?) I tend to question it's quality and validity.

Not only do they use these catch phrases, but they go so far as to blatently LIE! I'm paraphrasing here since I don't feel like looking up the actual quote, but it went something like this: "the only product of its kind to have a US patent, and as you know, you don't get one of those without proving results!"

That statement is laughable! ANYONE can get a US patent and you DO NOT have to prove ANYTHING except that you have the funds in your bank account to cover the check you write for the patent application process!

You wrote "You know nothing of 5starshine yet you sterotype it time after time."

There really isn't anything to sterotype. They claim it is good because it contains Teflon (PTFE), Teflon is of NO VALUE in a car wax/polish product. That is a fact, not a sterotype.

You wrote: "Read the last thread and out of my multiple posts, I don't think I said the name once, maybe once at introduction, but I do not remember.,so don't ever accuse me of pushing some product."

When did I ever ACCUSE you of ANYTHING???

If you use it and are happy with it, FINE. Knock yourself out. As for me, I'll stick with the tried and tested and proven. No ad hype. Any product that can sell like Zaino does WITHOUT ANY advertizing and simply via word of mouth must be a great product IMO.

Again, I wasn't bashing you at all and I apologize if it seemed as though I was.

Car feels great! No track times. Maybe one of these days........

I did stun a Porshe Boxster S down in Maryland right after I picked the car up. He was maneuvering like crazy to get through traffic and get a look at my car. He pulled along side me and gave me a thumbs up. I returned the gesture. He then punched it and I responded. It wasn't even close! I PASSED HIM LIKE HE WAS STANDING STILL. I was up to about 90 and slowed down, he waved and turned off onto an exit ramp.
