Default ScratchX Left Marks on Interior

Recently I discovered that I had a small scratch on my door panel. I was told by a friend to use ScratchX, even though it's mainly for the exterior. So I very lightly rubbed on a dab of ScratchX with my finger and then wiped it off with a cotten cloth. The scratch has been reduced, but the area where I put on the ScratchX seems shinier or darker than the rest of the panel.

I'm thinking that this is just the residue left by the ScratchX because I don't think I rubbed hard enough for it to act as an abrasive. My question is how can I remove the residue? Someone suggested using rubbing alcohol? I tried soap and water, which reduced the mark, but didn't remove it. FWIW, you can only see the "shinyness" from certain angles.

Your help is appreciated.

why would you use scratchx on the interior? the only reason it looks reduced is because the scratch on your interior was mostly a white scratch mark and the greasyness of scratchx darkened it. it has no outcome whatsoever on interior scratches.

try using dish soap and water. it's a stronger solvent for grease.

Be cautious about making a bad situation worse. Light soap and water. Leave it alone.

I tried some soap and water and it reduced the shiny part a little bit, but it's still noticeable at certain angles. Could the scratchx of polished the plastic somehow? I rubbed it in VERY lightly, so I wouldn't think it would have an abrasive effect.

Yeah, I think it actually did end up lightly "polishing" the plastic. Any ideas on what I can you use to mask it?

The obvious solution is to scratch-x the entire remaining driver and passenger panels to make it uniform.

Let us know what kind of buffer pad you use. Take pictures, too.
