Does anyone know if its ok for me to put a layer of step 2 polish over 2 coats of meguiars gold class wax? I currently have some swirlmarks on my hood and wanted to get some of them out. I wasnt sure though if it would even do anything since I had layers of wax on top of my paint. Are the swirls on the actual clear coat or is it the wax?

 

the swirl marks are in the clear coat. I dont know if the polish will help. What you need to start doing is using the proper towels though.

100% cotton Fieldcrest of Cannon white towels. Or buy some microfiber towels

 

Consider switching to Zaino! Get the "Kit". Includes Z5 that will get rid of those "swirls". Follow instructions to the letter. Even the 100% Cotton Fieldcrest Towels can cause swirls. I have piles I no longer use! Consider looking at towels from dftowel.com. Costly, but well worth the $$$.

 

What you really need to do is wash the car then use a paint cleaner on just the bonnet (hood) to remove the wax. Follow that up with Scratch X then re wax. If Scratch X doesn't remove the swirls you'll need to look at a harsher polish.

Oh and stop doing whatever's causing the swirls.
