Default correct way to apply polish?

i've seen articles which state that you apply polish like lotion.. the more you rub it into the paint.. the better. Anyone know if there is truth to that?

You will have define "polish" are you talking about a non abrasive polish like Zaino or an abrasive polish compound like 3M Swirl Mark Remover.

I would have to read the bottle on that one to see if you remove it wet or remove it dry, if you remove it wet it would lend itself more to being used with a random orbit buffer, usually with a buffer you activate the buffer long enough for the product to break down but not long enough for it to dry out on the paint.
