Default Question about Crystal Guard

First question, does this stuff really help prevent chips in the clearcoat/paint like some say? If so how many applications do you use? I'm starting to get a number of pinhead size chips in the paint and I only have 700mi.!!! I only work 1 mi. from home and hardly do any daily highspeed highway travelling, it's really starting to **** me off!!!

Second Question, I've seen you guys saying you got like 3 - 6 layers of CG on your car, but I've also heard after numerous applications, the CG starts to get cloudy. Have any of you had this experience? And how do you remove the CG once it's applied?

Third question, what product are you using the Pro system, the quick CG, etc? And is it really that easy to apply? I see that there are different places that apply the product professionally, unfortunatley I live in FL and they are way to far away. I just don't want to end up really messing up my paint job.

Final question, since the product is infused with ultra-fine fragments of glass fiber, do you think this would at all case fine scratches in the paint when appling? I know you probably couldn't tell when it's on but what if you remove the CG, would the stuff cause any swirling? I would think anything that has a course material suspended in the product has a potential for causing abrasion.

Thanks for your help!

1. CG does nothing to prevent paint chips. Welcome to the world of crap Nissan paint.

2. I recommend only one coat of CGQ every 4 months. I tried CG and got up to 4 coats. One night when the spotlight reflected just right, I saw a white haze. That haze was CG. I removed it using enamel reducer which is a solvent. DO NOT try this stuff. It can ruin your paint. I think alcohol will remove CG too. If you are the type of person that wants to detail your car frequently; I highly recommend you use Zaino. Zaino has a deeper shine that looks more like wet paint after a few layers. If you are the type of person that wants to polish your car every few months, then CG is perfect. It will give a really great shine w/ minimum effort. Just don't apply layers.

3. I have the pro system, but have not tried it. I use Zaino on my G; CGQ on my wifes IS300 and my truck.

4. CG will not cause swirls. However if you have swirls, you need to remove them first before using either CG or Zaino. The secret to a deep - wet shine is the quality of prep work. If you start out w/ swirls, your shine will kinda suck. Check this link and go to the article about removing haze and swirls (also this process will remove CG and/or Zaino):
