Default How to get rid of that musty smell out of my Z?

I usually clean the inside of my car with 303 Aerospace but for some reason the Z has this musty smell that will not go away. I think it's coming from the seats where I have spilled water on them several times. Could it be coming from the seats? How can I get rid of the musty smell?

Are you sure it's coming from the seats ? They a/c will give you a musty smell as well when you use it and shut the engine off right away.
The fan has to run for a couple minutes after shutting off the a/c off because it will create that musty smell as well when you turn the fan back on
but if your sure it's the moisture in the seats than i'm sure you will find a product that will eliminate that, did you try febreeze,it works for odors.

To kill the source of the odor I would suggest using a product like Chemical Guys Extreme Offensive Odor Eliminator - Concentrated. Unlike many other scented products this product is designed to break down any organic matter causing an odor. You can wipe down your seats with it, use it on carpets that can easily absorb odors and even spray it on cabin/air filters. Sometimes if the filters get damp they can produce a mildew like smell.

Sidenote: The 303 Aerospace Protectant does a great job of protecting the vinyl, rubber, plastic, etc. but it's not really a cleaner. If you want to help more thoroughly clean the area try the 303 Cleaner & Spot Remover. If you have any other questions please let me know.

Yea tried febreze already and that is only a temporary solution. It always comes back. And it's not from the AC because my wife mentions the smell before I turn on the car. Pretty sure it's from the seats or the floor mats that over the years have either had things spilled on them or have absorbed odors from outside sources.

Try this: it's called Ozium. It doesn't smell good, and you shouldn't even be in your car when you spray it , but it SHOULD get that musty smell out of there. They usually have them at car washes, wal-mart might even have it as well.

"OZM-1. Reduces airborne bacteria. Eliminates smoke and offensive odors. Ozium Glycol-ized Air Sanitizer was originally developed to combat airborne bacteria and germs in hospitals and health care facilities. Now it's available for your home, car, office and boat use. Ozium Glycol-ized Air Sanitizer is a unique product that cleans the air you breathe. It is clinically proven to eliminate odors, unlike current fragrance products that just mask odors. Ozium Glycol-ized Air Sanitizer combats airborne contaminants and eliminates odors with glycol-ized action - dispensing micron sized particles that linger in the air and attach to airborne bacteria and odors to drastically reduce air pollution, deodorize, purify and sanitize the air."

edit to my remark on how it "doesn't smell good":
when you spray it, it has a very strong stench that you probably would not want to breathe in as well.
The point of ozium is to ELIMINATE all the odors, not to make it smell nice. The strong ozium smell will go away in about 20 minutes after you spray it, along with any other odors that were in the car.

You can put an air freshener or spray whatever "good" smelling odor after the ozium smell clears away.

Glad to hear the information helped. Don't forget you save 10% off with the 10off350Z coupon code. I love the smell of Febreeze but it does not kill the source of odors. Please keep us posted on the results!
