Air Conditioner smells like SH#T
Hey guys, i wanted to know if you guys have this problem too. When I occasionally open my vent, the option other than ac, the initial air that comes in smells like a hampsters cage/wet bedding/pee. But when I close it, it doesnt smell. Do you guys have this problem? It happens a lot and I can't stand the smell/worried why it would even smell like that in the first place.
FYI: I used to have a hampster that escaped inside my garage, and my car was parked outside behind the garage. Could it have gotten inside my car somehow? Other than that, I don't know why it would smell like hampster/pee. Thanks.

It's funny because your observations seem to have answered your question itself.
Look for that hamster in your car!
Happened to my car, a rat got inside the and started pooing everywhere. I had to get everything cleaned out.
The hamster probably stayed in the garage the day you lost it, then when you decided to park your car inside the garage, it made your car it's new home.
Just because it was lost for a day or two, doesn't mean it's going to die... x)

I would use some sort of AC duct cleaning. They kill molds and other smelly things that accumulate in cars over the years and any local auto place will have them for sub $10. You simply spray it in the vents where air gets into your car at, then spray it into the vents where the air comes out of inside the car. They usually do a good job.

lol so the only suggestions I got where to clean our the engine bay where the leaves and debris are, and spray mold cleaner where the vents are. I cleaned out the debris and leaves already, but was wondering if there is a specific hole/nook I should look for? Where could a hampster die and stay even through all my driving/moving around?

Oh man that's tough. If you need help with the smell the Chemical Guys Extreme Offensive Odor Eliminator - Concentrated can be a big help. I'd spray it on affected areas and on the cabin filter, inside vents, etc. Good luck and keep us posted!

there is a drip somewhere in your ac system thats accumulating stinky water. My mother had the same issue in her CRV and I had the same issue last year. I kinda just left it alone and the smell went away
