Default engine bay is full of dirt

so I went drifting yesterday and had some wipe outs in the dirt. my car now (interior) is filled with dust and dirt but I'm going to handle that with a vacuum and clorax sanitation wipes. my issue is the engine bay. its dirty in a lot of its orafices and cavities. I want to clean it but I'm nervous about using anything moist in there
any suggestions?

^^^
Thanks for the link. I removed the seats and started cleaning them. The dirt is more imbedded than I thought so it'll probably take me a week to clean everything out.

Any suggestions on getting dirt out of the cloth seats and carpet...?

I decided to get it clean professionally. I caculated the price for parts (sprays, vaccuums, etc) and figured it's just slightly more $$$ for Nissan to do it. I rather have someone with more experience do it and I go ahead and fine tune his/her work a couple of days later. :-)

Engine details are actually really easy and inexpensive. I generally just use a degreaser and a good protectant ($15 - $35). For a step by step guide check out our detailing guide engine bay section. In short spray your degreaser on just about everything (avoid belts and other exposed moving parts). I really love the P21S Total Auto Wash which is my favorite or the Chemical Guys Grime Reaper A.P.C. for a great value. Rinse it off and it will look a lot better right away. Re-apply the degreaser to stubborn areas and agitate it with a rag or the DI Accessories E-Z Detail Brush. Dry it off with a rag and apply a dressing to the rubber, plastic, vinyl, etc. (except the belts, etc.). The 303 Aerospace Protectant or the Einszett 1Z Cockpit Premium are two of my favorites. They are not greasy so they leave a nice dark finish and no thick oily feel. Upon completion the engine bay should look great and it usually only takes 20 - 40 minutes. Let me know if you have any questions.
