Default which is better for removing swirls, small scratches?

3M Perfect-It Swirl Mark Remover for Dark Paints or
Menzerna Intensive Polish
I would be using it on super black paint with a PC 7424, followed by many coats of z5 then z2.
I know there are a few here that like the 3m but proper auto care.com really like the Menzerna, so i'm curious.
Thanks

I've used the Menzerna on my Super Black and it really works. The Final Polish will work in one step if you have really light swirls. Once applied, you can go right over it with you BF AFPP.

The 3M is more of a cosmetic fix. It really isn't an abrasive which is what you need to "remove" the swirls, not just hide them for a while.

Give the folks at CMA a call about this. They really know this stuff and give plenty of instruction on how to use it.

3M Perfect-It Swirlmark Remover 39009 is an abrasive and a remover, I can assure you that. The product you may be referring to that is more of a hider of swirls is 3M Imperial Hand Glaze.

Here is the MSDS on it: http://hazard.com/msds/f/brb/brbfn.html

Notice it contains 5 to 15% Aluminum oxide which is a common solid material used in many abrasive polishes and compounds that 3M makes.

I've actually used the 3m 39009 on the back part of the car with my PC. Even with the rpm up real high, it only took out the less heavy scratches. I just ordered the intesive and final polish. I'll test it on my bro's black grand am first which is scratched to all hell.

I've used 39009 as well with a PC and saw no noticable results of swirl mark removal. That's why I said:

Menzerna did a much better job.

All of my black vehicles are swirl free due to 3M 39009, I have had very good luck with it, PC setting on 4 or 5 using the white pad.

You probably use the correct washing and drying tools to keep from re-applying the swirls, too. That's the right way to do it.
