Hi guys,

I wanted to go over the car with Meguir's quick detailer but I can't seem to get it to absorb. I spray and wipe and then flip it to dry but I just spread the stuff and it doesn't dry. Maybe it's the towell I'm using.

I know some of you will suggest using dftowel but shipping to Canada is 44 bucks so forget it!

Has anyone used this stuff in the cold? Does it behave any differently than in the warmth?

 

Cold weather has no effect to me in using Z-6 detailer, I would say your towels have given up....

 

I think thats a good thing.

Once you start to see a lot of it "absorb" and not really lubricate the surface very well, thats when you know your layer of wax on the car is all but gone.

I think it just affirms that fact that your car has a healthy amount of wax on it.

Also, I would highly recommend a microfiber towel, even an average one is better then a crappy regular towel, spreads it much much better.

You can get any kind of micro fibers in stores now, but they are are all made from polyester and nylon, WalMart has a turtle wax brand name of man made micro fibers in the wax section, but I felt of them and they feel cheap and rough, nothing I would use on my paints.

Actually, its just the quick wax. It wont work in certain temp. ranges. Check the bottle, it will say. I get the same thing here too.

I ordered the towels through a friend's US PO box so I have them now and am quite happy.

 

Jet, Paul is referring to Quick Detailer, not quik wax... Big difference. Paul, I've found the same thing with QD in the cold weather...it responds a bit different and really doesn't "work in" well at all. It's also probably because your car has less wax on it. A freshly waxed car will take the QD much better than a car without.

Yeah, I live in NY and any of the detailers that I have used dont work well in the cold weather. It has something to do with molecular structure of the stuff when it is cold. It helps if you keep the bottle at room temperature, but a warm surface is the most efficient way to use any detail spray.
