CrystalGuard Quick Review

A beautiful Saturday morning in sunny California was the perfect day to apply CrystalGuard Quick. Being one of 10 fortunate members of MY350Z.COM selected to monitor CrystalGuard Quick, I looked forward to applying and enjoying a wax-like shine to my new Nissan 350Z. Being a little lazy, I had a little help from my local detail shop.

During the honeymoon first two months of car ownership, my car had been hand washed and waxed with a high quality Carnauba wax on a weekly basis. Needless to say, this ritual quickly became very tedious and time consuming since a good do-it-yourself wash and wax ends up taking a good hour and half. It was after a few months of grueling washing and waxing that I found a detail shop on Ventura Boulevard that washed all the dealership cars on the street. The dealerships included Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes, BMW among others and I thought to myself, if these guys trust this detail shop, I could try them out. Sure enough, a hand wash from these folks takes over one hour and their work is excellent.

This being the first application of three or four expected from the CrystalGuard Quick bottle, I decided to let my detail shop do their usual excellent hand wash of my 350Z. Having the shop do the hand wash, I elected to skip the CrystalGuard Wash application. However, on the next visit, I plan to try the Crystal Guard Wash to see if it in fact helps with the micro layer scratches it claims to fill in. After the wash, it was my turn to personally apply CrystalGuard Quick. The instructions received were clear and easy to understand. In a short time, I had sprayed and wiped the Crystal Guard Quick over my entire wet car using about one-quarter to one-third of the bottle. I couldn’t be any easier.

As with the initial hand wash and application of CrystalGuard Quick, I decided to leave drying the car to the detail shop. I provided instructions to dry the car in shade and to avoid drying with excessive pressure. Now in the past, I have had a $85.00 detail job done on my 350Z by this same detail shop. It includes a hand wash and full exterior wax job among other things that leaves the car primped and pruned with the best of them. After applying CrystalGuard Quick, I’m pleased to report that the finished look was comparable to the expensive detail job.

I can’t wait to apply CrystalGuard Quick over the next couple of weeks and to use CrystalGuard Wash. No more wax for life? We’ll see about that in a month or two. Thanks to CrystalGuard and to MY350Z.COM for allowing my participation in this monitoring process.
________

The above was my first application of CrystalGuard Quick. I've since done two additional applications and must say that the shine remains outstanding. I have one more application to go. From that point on, I want to see how the shine holds up with just basic wash instead of wash and wax. Also, I want to see if the brake dust comes off easier with CGQ coating.

I'll let you guys know how it turns out. In the meanwhile, let me quote Iris: "It looks shinnier than the last time I saw your car."

No joy on swirls with CGW. From what I've read, there is a Zaino product that works on that problem. And, frankly, I don't know the effect of CGQ application followed by subsequent anti-swirl application. One thing I'm concerned about is what happens after CGQ application. Can I get rid of swirls afterwards? I honestly don't know but, I suspect that anything over the CGQ, including Zaino should work okay.

I can say that the CGQ is an excellent product. But, if you're concerned about swirls, you might want to try to remove them before application just to be on the safe side incase of the unlikely event that CGQ prevents removal of the swirls. Tako would be a better reference on this question.

In my past experience, CGQ fills only small swirls. If you really want to eliminate it, all you can do is buff them out. Most of products claim that eliminate swirls are filling them wiht silicons etc... if that fix is permanent, CGQ still works good on it. There are some products fill them such as blue corel glaze etc, but they wear out fairly quickly... If you have time, just polish car first then seal with CG as I did on my cars.

CG is more for protection against oxidation and its deep glass looking shine.

Excellent advice. I had claybarred mine (well paid and helped, well no, paid and offered drinks and watched, well actually paid offered drink and watch my Raiders get thier butts kicked arggh)
Then he (my buddy) used top of the line polish and buffed it and then used a very well known high end Liquid Carnuba Wax (let's just say it was a Gold Class product that the dealers sells!) Looked awesome for a week, except for that dry white powder residual....

So swirls be gone. Cost me 80 bucks and by the time he finished it was dark, an all day thing. I have a pic afterwords at my site titled detail day or something like that. He put on my CAI too so it was a fair price.

The otrher mobile detailers here charge over 200 to do the exact same thing and are booked 2 weeks in advance (must be nice.)

So if swirls are your main concern handle it!

*Then* apply CG or CGQ, it's one bottle and 3 easy steps not 4 or 5 bottles and 4 steps like some of the competitiors and hours of labor! My swirls are gone and I have a glass layer of protection.

Others enjoy the work (labor of love) and I credit them for that, Zaino etc looks awesome I am just lazy and this looks just as good bottom line. So I am not knocking other products, they too are proven just as this one will soon be if not already is.

Anyways my buddy calls me today, he is putting on my Eibach's and some other suprises etc and he wants to make a "package deal" on a detail job too the same day.

I told him I don't need a detail I had found a new product that I use myself (he can't picture me out there washing my car myself so he is quiet for like 15 seconds ha-ha then asks what it's called.) He is very interested because he knows how I am about my car!

This guy has all of the leading products and you choose which one you want. He has spent 6 hours on Vettes etc and is a Pro.
So he is like tripping now (he will be here Friday) my Wedding Anniversary *and* B-Day BTW
I did that on purpose so I never forget my anniversary

Anyway,

Wait till he sees it it will blow him away! Word is gonna spread around here quick because he owns a mobile detail Company (Cioli's Detailing) and is a very prominent member of an LS1 Nor Cal Car Club here that lives at the track and cruises everywhere.

Let's just say that he lost a customer (but not a friend) and that is real talk, nothing made up and no royalties ha-ha, just a coupon for my 2nd bottle! When he is all done Friday (Front Grill, upping my N20 jets a notch) lowering my car with the pro kit, some brake stuff and if I am still married and have access to the house and computer (wife hates me spending money on my car) I will be adding 2 more coats and posting some pics!
Gonna let the second coat sit for 2 hours and haze again!

Hey Tako, ever consider a decal for us good customers as advertisement? Have to be a nice looking one, probably a window one too.

AnywaZ I am off, can't sleep because I am normally working at this hour and rambling on , drank a RockStar too.

Anyone ever try a RockStar?

Peas Out!

I just ordered CGQ, but should I use the 3 step
CG instead and then use CGQ as needed? A little
confused I guess.

On a brand new car CGQ is all you need
but that's my opinion it works plenty well.

If swirls are a concern do a little prep then apply CGC whenever you wash your car. It (the shine) lasts quite a long time.

CrystalGuard seems to have a lot of potential. I've been reading about it on this forum and I the only thing I really want to know is how this product matches up to Zaino. I have been using Zaino for over a year now and I can't imagine putting anything else on my car. Does anyone know enough about both products to compare and contrast them? Or better yet, has anyone tried both and compared results? For me to switch its going to have to have some clear advantages considering that Zaino is already great and that CrystalGuard is ridiculously expensive.

As long as chemical covers the whole car body, that creates glass layer and you don't need that much to do 1 applicatoin. If you are good at it, you can do 8 or more application per bottle....
Can you explain the mechanism behind new "chemical"? Structures perhaps?

thanks!

Well tomorrow is the last day to get the 10% discount & after reading all of the positive reviews/experiences, I'm going to order it.

I'm curious which kit everyone has been ordering. I'm leaning toward the Pro + Maintenance kit for $175, has anyone used primer, base & top coats before applying the CG Quick? I'm getting one of the front fenders replaced next week & after they're done installing & painting it, I'm going to want to wax the entire car. I'm not sure if I should Zaino the car first & then add the CG primer, base coat, top coat & couple layers of CG Quick, or do the CG stuff first & then wax with Zaino, or just use CG only. Any suggestions???

Edit sleepy typos (heads to store for Red Bull!)
Hehe, thanks for the compliment! It's sad to see it's not in my driveway anymore, but I replaced it with a nice, shiny red Z so I'm not too sad.
Anyway, thanks for the info everyone and I just ordered some Crystalguard to see how it fares up against my Zaino. I only hope it'll look somewhat comparable to Zaino, but I'm more worried about it protecting the paint than anything else. I'll see how it works out in a couple of days.

Well, I recently bought the CG Maintenance Kit. I washed my car with Blackfire shampoo, followed by application of CGQ, then rinsing it off, and lastly drying the car.

All I can say is, what took me 3 hrs to achieve with Blackfire (from washing, to drying, to waxing), I can now accomplish in 1.5 hrs! I noticed that the shine is much more glasslike in appearance, and yet, still brings out the richness of the the Redline color. Better yet, no white residue in between crevices/panels!

I couldn't imagine how simple this product was! If you saw Tako's Black Z pix, that's how my Redline looks like now.

My next project is to test CG Wash. Until then, I'll be enjoying my new shine. Unbelievable!

I have found that CrystalGuard does more for older, darker cars. While it was easier to apply and took less time than normal wax, is was hardly worth 50 dollars for a small bottle -- the difference between that and Meguiar's Gold Class is negligable.

In one day we applied it both to my Silverstone 350 and to my friend's Black 3000GT VR4. His car looked so amazing after we were finished -- the CrystalGuard seemed to fill in the scratches in the clear coat!

On the downside, it didn't leave the car feeling as smooth as with top-grade wax. Oh well...

I used the product you mentioned and with all due repsect you are leaving out 2 important aspects.

1. Ese of use
2. Durability

I give the nod on both to CG and I was a former user of what you used that starts with M. I have a BIG bottle of Gold Class want to buy it?

I am actually a bigger fan of Blackfire. I do think that Blackfire lasts longer than Meguiar's. And I still think the feel and shine that Meguiar's gives my car is only slightly less than what CG does, just a fraction of the cost.

Don't get me wrong dude, CG is definitely top notch -- just too expensive for me right now, putting myself through college! The last thing I need to be doing is paying 200% markup so Tako can buy gas for his Diablo

Bottom line? If the price were lower, it would own the **** out of everything. Unfortunately for CG there are many cheaper synthetic "waxes" available (Blackfire) that have a high melting temperature (long life). So, for many price becomes the main issue.

LOL

Good luck in college, a 4 year degree will increase your income 50 %, at least here in CA.

A word of advice (I am an old graduated fart) never pay retail

I learned that in the Military overseas.

Heck I even barter for extra fries at McD's!

Sometimes I get em too!
