I use Meguiars Gold Class on my wife's Maxima and Zaino on my Z.

They both look awesome, but the Zaino just looks shinier and lasts longer

I use Meguiar's car wash, clay bar, paint cleaner, paint polish, and wax on my Z and it looks great and holds up very well through lots of washes.

Zaino is not complicated, that is a myth. You put it on, wait for it to dry and rub it off, exactly like any other final finish wax or polish.

there is a whole write up in the FAQ or DIY section(I forgot where I put it )

but anyway; kevin is right; and wrong in a way.

theres 2 sections; prep and waxing. thing is people think you HAVE to prep with zaino; and not with anything else; this is the myth. you dont have to prep if you really dont want. and you SHOULD prep before you apply any wax; not just zaino.

the prep is almost as you said; first you wash; just like normal; regular soap.

then you use the clay; you have to lubricate the surface with something; I use joy solution, but that supposedly hurts the clay. so zaino actually reccomends you lubricate with regular car was solution. so basicly your washing the car again except with a clay bar instead of a rag.

then wash once more. normal.

time consuming? yes. but this really should be done for any wax process.

then comes the zaino. the numbers are confusing to a newbie; I was so lost... the dirt tho

zfx and Z1 are the same thing almost. zfx is used everytime; Z1 is used every 4th or 5th time. ZFX makes the wax dry faster. you use one or the other though.

Z2 and Z5 are the same thing; and they are the steak and potatoes, they are THE WAX. Z2 is a shinier more opticly pleasing wax. Z5 is a thicker darker shine; that will fill in swirls even. if you have a dark color; take the Z5 and run with it; thats my opinion though.

Z6; like windex for your paint. apply it in almost the same fashion. use it, dont use it. eh who cares. it makes it a bit shinier, but it was gonna be the shiniest thing you ever saw without it anyway.

hopefully that made it slightly more simple... its not so bad, after prep; if you use zfx, it is simply wash the car and apply the wax, wait 15 minutes and wipe it all off. all done. no different than any other wax.

well it is; cause you cant leave it on too long(no more going panel by panel hoping its dry but not TOO dry); its easier to apply and remove(doesnt get little flakes of removed wax everywhere); if you get it on porous plastic parts theyll just be shiny; not stained.

It is not all that difficult. I did, but do you have to "clay"? No!
It is without a doubt the easiest polish I have ever applied or removed. The more applications you apply, the easier it is to remove. Lets keep it easy for you!

What might you need: Dawn, Z7, Z6, Z2, Z5 and ZFX. Also,
"BigBlue" from PakShak.com (25X36) and some buffing towels. I prefer DF Towels.

Assuming you are going to try Zaino, but regardless, you will wash your "Z", so why not do it the 1st time with Dawn. It gets off all the "old" wax. Then I would probably re-wash it with Z7.
Dry using "BigBlue" or something you prefer. Then detail per instructions with Z6. Then I would suggest applying Z5 with ZFX. Follow this up with another application of Z6. It is up to you, but I would apply a 2nd coat of Z5 with ZFX. Before moving on to Z2, we need to hit it again with Z6. Ok, you are tired. Just reading this probably makes you tired, however apply the Z2 without, I repeat without ZFX and let it remain on your "Z" 8-10 hours before buffing. Now your final application of Z6.

It is not as bad as it seems. The 1st time is always the hardest.

"Right"! You can't go wrong! Good luck! Note: The mixing bottles you get with the ZFX are two (2) ounce bottles. Only put one (1) ounce of Z5 or Z2 in the bottle and add 3-4 drops of ZFX. Don't squeeze the ZFX vile! Let the drops form and fall!

If you can wait until February, Meguiars is coming out with polymer that might give Zaino a run for its money and involve fewer steps. It is called NXT Tech wax. See this link:

Try Zymol. I think you will find the results outstanding.

I plan to try Nxt Tech Wax on one of our daily drivers. If it looks great on the test car, I'll then try it on a small section of the Z to do a side-by-side comparison with Blackfire 2. Hope to do the test this spring. One of the daily drivers has some swirl marks so that will be a good test of its swirl hiding ability.

TCL... thanks. As a mutual Blackfire admirer ... I am looking forward to your test.

Meguiar might be hitting a home run with its new NXT Tech from what I have read.

Even a car right off the truck should be Dawned and clayed, whatever you plan to use.

There is generally a very slight film from the factory on it and it will pick up contaminants at the factory and in shipping and just sitting out.

Starting out with a completely clean and smooth as glass surface makes a big difference in how good the finish will look.

The NXT is out. I bought a bottle yesterday for $17! A lot more than the Gold Class I usually use. Will probably apply it over the weekend.
