Default are weathershield car covers safe?

i just got a car cover made of weathershield material. i bought it from Courtesy Nissan. i payed $200 for it. it is supposed to be safe for clear coat, but, after getting it, doesn't seem very safe to me. maybe it's just me, but, this high tech material hasn't won me over. it's pretty smooth on the inside, but, it's still plastic.

does anybody have this car cover, or, has one made out of weathershield?

this definitely keeps my car like it's just washed even after almost a week. but, i'm still very worried that in the long term this is going to damage my clear coat. in the courtesy nissan website it says that this material is softer than their flannel covers.

i don't know..can anybody shed some light here. should i worry about putting this particular car cover on, or, get a pair of the best king size cotton sheets that i can find.

thanks for your input,
Gerardo

90% of all car covers are man made materials, there is nothing to worry about as long as the car surface is completely clean and dust free before you put the cover on. There are some 100% cotton car covers you can buy but they are for indoor use only as they mold and mildew easily, for outdoor use you need the man made material.

thanks,
yeah i try to take all the dust and debris off before i put the cover on. i use a duster, and also, when i take the cover off i fold it in a way so that the outside (dusty side) does not come into contact with the inside. one thing i don't like about such a big cover is that, i don't think it washes well. now, if i take two king-size 100% cotton sheets and use that, i then, can wash them separately...what do you think about this, would the sheets be safe to use?

and yes, this is for indoor use. i keep my car garaged, i'm using now the cover to only prevent it from getting dusty, because it's winter here in the northeast and i can't wash my car as frequent.

thanks for your input

If you are only using the cover for indoor use, you can use the sheets of course.

If you are only ever planning to use the cover indoors I would carry that cover back for a refund as it is over priced when you could have purchased a cover just made for indoor use much cheaper. I would get from this page: http://www.calcarcover.com/car_cover_select.asp

either the SoftweaveTM or the Plushweave or the Dustop with the softweave being the cheapest at 160.00
