Default Rear Wiper

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but in every single other hatchback car I've owned, the rear wiper can be lifted (just like the front ones) in order to properly clean the windshield. Is it possible to do that with the 350Z one? Is there some trick to it? Mine only moves like 1 inch. It makes it annoying to clean the rear window. Any ideas???

yes, you can totally remove it, but you need to plug the holes.

I still cannot find that plug. I've checked Lowes, Home Depot, Ace,a nd some other local hardware stores.. They all have a 1 3/4 inch one that's to big. I'm gonna go check for one @ and local plumbing place I just found out about. It's really irritating having to look @ that stupid bolt.

I agree that is a b*tch to clean under. I wonder why they didnt make it so that it can be lifted like a normal wiper.

Probably so that the wiper arm doesn't start flapping its gums when you're running down the highway at 120 mph +. Inconvenient -- but I like the current setup and looks.

It's done for a few reasons. Most importantly, manufacturers do this to prevent the wiper arm to pull back in a car wash and allow the blade to reverse. It is a common occurence to have rear wipers destroyed in a car wash, especially on SUVs. Another reason is that it's to prevent the spring from overstretching and loosing it's load. This can be worked around but the spring would be different and other drawbacks need to be considered.
