Bird crap stains....help
everyday i find little yellow specks of bird crap on my Z...i guess where i park there's lots of birds? its not the full-on crap but just specks of it here and there...every nite i look for them and try to remove it, but there a few that have already set into the paint that i can't rub off...anyone know what i can do...i'm really pissed that the bird sh#t sets in so quick...please someone HELP...
too small to be sap...that's what i thought at first but when you get it wet you can tell it's bird crap...but either way, whether it's sap or crap...how can i get rid of it??????
Take a look at Brad4rdhay's detailing dection under paint prep about the ABC System by Auto International. A very good read. Also, it sounds like you will be investing in a cover for you're baby if the birds are that bad.
Good Luck...
Good Luck...
My bird took a good purple, berries, crap on my car. Cleaned it off no more than 3 hrs. later and it appears to have eaten into the clear coat. Tried claying, McGuires Fine Cut polishing compound, cleaner wax. Nothing worked. I'm having my Deatailer hopefully buff out the spot as well a a small 3" scratch which came from the dealer. I'll then have him Teflon seal the paint with a few good coats of Pinnacle Soverign Carnuba. Hopefully this will protect my Black Beauty in the future.
Hey all. I'm new around here and haven't ordered my Z yet. However I did have a 97 black GMC Sonoma Highrider fully loaded about 4 years ago. I had a tremendous problem keeping it blemish free. I found that a professionally applied Teflon every 6 months and then a good waxing every month and a product called fast wax ever weekend helped a lot. Bug acids and the acids in bird crap seems to eat through just about everything eventually. Black paint it the most likely because it gets softer quicker than other lighter colors. I also carried a bottle of teflon cleaner (part terpentine) and a baby diaper in my truck. As soon as I noticed anything on it I was jumping out to clean it. Kinda **** retentive I guess but 3 years later people were asking me how I liked my new truck and how long did I have it.
I think I'm getting Black again for my Z
Good luck. Black is tough but when it's clean "It's clean"

This talk about re-painting bird bombs just scares me!. No, your finish isn't ruined. Heres are the three easy steps you have to take. 1) Remove crap 2) Neutralize the acids/bases in paint. 3) Repair if needed.
Carry 2 small 8-oz srpitz bottles in that glove compartment behind the seats, and 2 small towels (or paper towels). When you see a bird bomb in the parkng lot, don't wait to get home. In one spritzer, have a quick detailing spray to use as a lubricant so you can GENTLY wipe away the crap with one towel. Next, spray the area with the second bottle, which is filled with isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) and a little water. When you let this sit on the stain for a min or two, it will neutralize the chemicals in the paint. Dab it up with the second towel... While this may take 2-min, it could save our finish.
When you can, inspect the car. If you have etching, you need to polish. Using the Porter Cable and some 3M "Machine Glaze" should take it right out. Just need to spot polish, dont have to do the whole panel. Then re wax/seal the area. Again, takes 5 min.
Also, whats great about having paper towels and Quick Detailer in you car at all times, is for quick window cleaning.

If the specks you are talking about are yellow and about the size of the head of a straight pen or a bit smaller, that may be pollen that has been dropped by bees.
A friend's father works for the local environmental agency. The agency was trying to determine what this "fallout" was that people were complaining about. His agency is the one that determined it is pollen.
It is very difficult to remove.
