Clay Bar or Cleaner Wax
Guys I have a question; I used to only use cleaner wax, but now I want to try claybarring. In what combinations would I use a claybar and/or cleaner wax?
For instance would I claybar first, then cleaner wax, then wax protectant? Or just leave out cleaner wax all together?
BTW, I am using Meguire's Gold Class.

step by step:
Paint care steps
If you're using a cleaner/wax, there's no reason to use another coat of pure wax unless you're just looking to get another layer on it. I use the Zymol cleaner/wax on my '93 Pathfinder and it still has a great shine.

Having just done the claybar / Zaino thing on my brand-new Track and LOVING the results, I strongly recommend you go straight to the claybar, and skip the whole wax thing....
I say give the car a good washing with Dawn, then use the Mother's claybar or the Zaino claybar (consensus seems to be that they are about the same, although someone said to me that for some reason they didn't like the Zaino clay, not sure why).
The mothers claybar came with a spray-bottle of "instant-detailer" that is used to lubricate the clay, but I ran out about 3 panels short of finishing the car, so I quickly switched to Z7/water and it worked just as well....
I have no affiliation with Zaino or their product (other than being a very satisfied customer), but I really recommend their Z7/5/2/6, and you'll love the results....I think one of the big attractions of Zaino is that waxes tend to have oils in them that while they may start out near optically perfect, they may not stay that way. The Zaino is not a wax, and supposedly will not discolor or fade over time. Just what I've read, but in any case, you will be amazed at what the claybar can do for your paint.....
