Zaino/Claybar question
Got a question for the Zaino gurus out there.
It's been about 6 months since I did the Dawn/Claybar thing, when I first got the car and applied Zaino. Now that I've had some time with the car and some practice with Zaino application, I'd like to do the claybar again. Since I bought the Zaino products, I've applied numerous layers of Z-2 and 2 layers of Z-5, plus Z-6 between applications.
My question is: do I need to re-wash with Dawn before claybarring again? Or can I just wash the car with Z-7 and then clay the car?

Claybar, under most circumstance, is only necessary once per year. If you want to establish a regiment of doing clay every spring, certainly won't hurt. The initial Dawn wash was to remove any wax that you might have used prior to Zaino. Wash with Z7 and clay the car. Follow after claying instruction provide by Zaino as you work your way toward additional application of Z5 and Z6.
OK, got it. Thanks.
I sort of figured that the Dawn was only for the initial wash and it wasn't necessary after the Zaino was applied.
The reason why I'm re-claybarring so soon is because the first time around I feel like I did kind of a half-a$$ job at it.

Claying after you have a lot of Zaino on the car is easier as the clay slides around much easier. It'll seem like you aren't doing anything and it won't feel the same as an initial claying.
The first time you do it, it feels like there is some resistance and then it slides around easily. With the Zaino on, it starts and ends the same. Slides around easily.
Sal describes claying a Zainoed car like this: "It's like pulling a splinter out or your skin" In other words, it pulls out debris that is embedded within the polish and has just a little bit exposed to the surface.
The best thing about it is that claying doesn't really remove your Zaino!
