Ok, that's a start. But for those who are new to the Obsessive Compulsive Detailing set... like me... how much is perma-plate? (and what is it for that matter?)

I really don't want to rain on anyones parade, and tako, I'v never used the product so dont take this the wrong way, but I am a little sceptical.

The idea of a wax/polymer is to have something on top of the car that can get beaten up protectng the paint underneith, but eventually wears away, but then you put a fresh coat on again. Putting on a semi-perminant coating is very much just like spraying another coat of clear-coat on the car.

Also, there was a product like this called Blue Coral Touchless, it was a pain to work with and nearly imposible to remove. I think they whent out of buisness.

Again, never used it, and please don't kik me off the board tako.

I tested blue coral too. Some detailer are still using that. And no different from other polymer coating. That's why they couldn't compete.

Blue Coral is different than say Klasse or Zaino. It was too damn hard for people to get off the car.

I have special remover for CrystalGuard that takes off only the layer. But it is not like a sheet of paper.... That chemical wash the layer off. Or you can buff it off.

BTW, what's the case people wanted to remove blue coral?? I've used it before but it doesn't make any difference so I just kept it.

The best analogy for not cleaning off your protection and starting over once and a while is like using de-odorant daily but not taking a shower.

While you want the protection to be durable, you don't want it to be perminant. Again, thats why its a good idea for you to sell the remover. Blue Coral didn't do that.

I invite any manufacturer of any other paint "protectant" to a public duplication of this test. CrystalGuard may be a great product, but it is not an auto bra. Lets try to keep everything in perspective. Crystalgaurd is for looks, Clear Bras are for rock chip prevention. We can be happy together. I still want to see how it looks on top of a clear bra.

First we put 50 pounds of rocks in ice and put it over a BMW trunk lid. Half of the "impact zone" was protected with 3M, Half was protected whith nothing.

As the day went by, the sun took its' toll on the ice and the rocks took thier toll on the paint. This pic is after six hours.

Yeah Tako, your car looked fantastic! I would love to get some to see if it applies over Invisiguard as well as Zaino does. Since PPF only covers the frontal impact area (about 5-10% of the painted surface) theres still plenty of use for any other protectant to be used on the non-impact areas of the paint. See you at SEMA!

Hmm, I'm interested. Those pics of your black Z are pretty amazing.

Didn't you say it had to be professionally installed?

So is this not for sale yet Takao? It seems there are three levels, pro, quick, and another one... Which one do you have on the brickyard? How do you apply it? And can I get some..??

Whether it's free or not, I'd be interested in getting the Crystal Guard. We have a detailer that does all of our executives' cars -- they'll go apesh*t over this. Not to mention I can't wait to put it on my Z.

Just got my Car.

I'm waiting to see what route to take (Zaino / Crystal Guard) ...it seems we are in Nov and nothing yet on the Crystal guard side...

I'm thinking of just getting the Zaino for now and then if necessary removing it for crystalguard application.
