Default Good washing/detailing steps for a newbie

Hi everyone,

Just want to say that this forum is great. Tons of info and everyone here has been helpful.

I just was wondering what a good "regimen" is for washing and detailing my black Z. I usually use a washing mit to wash my car then dry it using one of those water filters so I don't have to worry about the drying process. However, my car never looks amazing like some of the pictures I have seen.

If anyone can give me tips on what products I need (including where to buy them) and what application steps I should take, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

There are many kinds of washing mits, the 100% polyester ones sold at discount and parts stores (usually yellow in color) are to be stayed away from, they put fine hair line scratches that show up really bad on dark colors. I only use a big fluffy cotton wash mit.

Before even thinking about what kind of wax or polish to use you need top quality wiping towels to use to take off the wax or polish and to remove the detailer spray. Always purchase a detailer spray that goes with your final finish wax or polish system, in our system this would be the Z-6.

For wiping towels I use the www.dftowel.com

And I use Zaino as a final finish polish......
