California Duster
Several months ago I never heard of this product . Now I'm very interested in buying one for my new Z which is still on order (week 10). Am I better off buying the new larger size version (it's heavier) instead of the old regular smaller size? I would assume that they both do the job but is the new size better, easier & etc. also is it worth the extra money. I'm interested in the best results! Anyone out there used the larger size?
Hey Sluggo. You're not to far away from me. I live in Hermitage, PA just over the border from you.
This is the Cali Car Duster I have:
The only one I see anywhere that is bigger is this one:
Is that the one you mean?
I would stick to the one I have. A lot of people (including me) swear by it.

Apparently that M.B.A. didn't do you a lot of good..... J/K
I've had my duster for about a year. The one you have Bonz. This thing is dirty and it stinks. I love what it does for my car, but lately it is putting greasy streks on my car. Can you or should you wash these things? If so with what? I blow it off with an air nozzle to get anything off that might scratch.
Thanks. Dan

you can find washing instructions on the cali car duster site, but they say it picks up better with the more crap on it. I love mine, cause when im gone for a week, my car is covered in dust, a min or two and it looks like it was when i left. I had to order a wood handeled one, cause i could only find the cheap plastic ones by my house.
i have one too.
it was like 11.99 at target.
does anyone notice it scratching the car. i got some swirls on my car and ive only had t for 2 months...!!!!
i brush it around the car and try to shake it off after a few strokes.
is this how you guys do it also????
as for now. im kind of afraid to use it until this board tells me otherwise.
your opinions are valued.

I had the swirl problem with my old maxima after washing it using a certain wash soap that had a wax built into it. Always left swirl marks on my dark green paint.. after a few washes w/ regular meguirs soap and a fresh real wax, they were gone. Check your soap.. if you are using a soap w/ wax built in to it, ditch it.
i meant swirls as in fine scratches....
i wash with a mitt with the mr clean auto dry wash, so it requires no drying.
maybe my swirls are from a paid car wash. and now im barely noticing them . damnnit...first and last time..

If your wash mit is polyester that could be your swirls......
There are two versions of the CA Duster, you have the real one that has a much larger mop head and designated by having a wood handle, the one sold at discount stores like Walmart, autozone, Kmart etc. is the retail version that the CA car duster company makes for cheaper sales. The cheap one is 10 bucks and the better one is 20 bucks. To get the better one you have to order it online from people like Summit racing or CA Car cover company. I have both to show people the difference, I dont care for the small one in the picture as you can see it has never been used.
Hey kevin Overall...I'm still curious, the larger one that you showed in the pic...is the length of the strands appox. 3 and 1/2 to 3 and 3/4 inches long? If it is....than I think I found one at Advanced auto parts!

The smaller retail one has a strand length of about 3 inches and has a plastic handle, the original has a wood handle and the strand lengths are 5 to 5 1/2 inches, I just came from the shop and measured both........
