Default Wheel Wax?

Anyone try wheel wax? (www.wheelwax.com) It supposedly takes the brake dust off the wheels when they're dirty AND inhibits it from sticking in the future. Maybe this could be a cheaper alternative to buying new brake pads that put out less dust (i.e. Hawk HPS)

Something about their statement...

"WheelWax changes the surface polarity of your wheels to repel brake dust particles."

... makes me doubt that this stuff is legit. You would think that if there was some magic compound that changes the polarity of the static charge built up on something, every wax or polish in the world would contain it. Just think, my car will never get dirty again.

I want to see some independant testing results before I'd consider using it.

i probably should have included this link with my original post, it's how I originally found the product:

http://www.properautocare.com/wheelwax.html

i'm not sure how reputable this website is, but it seems to be recommended by several members on this forum.

I got lots of info. First off let me start by saying that www.properautocare.com is the BEST place for detailing products. Ive used them for years and couldn't be happier with their products or service. They also have many exclusive products that are only available through them (i.e. blackfire, which is a great wax). I have their wheel wax and am resonably happy with it. It goes on and comes off with ease and it cleans the wheels pretty well, although I never apply it to a dirty wheel, I always clean it with conventional methods first. The major problem with Wheel Wax is that when you go to clean your wheels in the future, you will remove the protective coating it leaves. Almost all wheel cleaners have a high PH which will take the wax right off. To compensate for this, I use 303 aerospace cleaner on my wheels when I have the Wheel Wax on them and it will not remove the wax. But, 303 is a little mild in my opinion for cleaning wheels, so if there very dirty you might get some left over residue. Personally, I think a good synthetic wax like Klasse or Zaino will work just as well, so you could save money and use just that. But all in all Wheel wax is a decent product and should be at least considered.

yup, properautocare is a great place to shop. they really know their stuff and answers any questions you have rather quickly. once i used wheel wax, i never used any other wheel products anymore. sure its expensive, but its worth it IMO. you don't really have to use much, just enough to spread it around evenly. makes wheels shine like no tomorrow. also makes it easier to clean in the future. i usually clean it with a quick detail spray and a terry cloth inbetween washes. product works great, but i wouldn't sub it for Hawk brake pads tho. i'm planning to get some myself. wheel wax doesn't totally elimate dust, but it does what it says.

there was an intensive review at www.detailcity.com in the forums. i can't find his post but he recommended it to everyone.
