I'm gonna make sure I get off all the previous coats of wax (Meguires gold class) by using the cleaner, then polish the finish up, and lock in all that shine with the new NXT wax. Anyone here have any experience with these products yet?

I used that Meguiars cleaner followed by a different polish followed by Four Star Ulitmate Paint Protection on my daughter's car last November. Prior to using the cleaner I washed and clayed the car. The car looked great when done and still looks good now even though I haven't done anything to it since then but wash it. The cleaner was fairly easy to use.

I did exactly the same thing you did...switch from Gold Class to NXT. I washed with Dawnto strip, used the paint cleaner to clean the paint and make sure it was all off, I didn't use the polish and just put the NXT on the clean paint. Did 2 coats, and it turned out great. The polish may help, and certainly won't hurt.
Good luck.

For some, chewing gum and walking at the same time is too complicated lol

Those are the steps I plan to do this weekend. Only I will skip the first two and go right to step three.

Seriously - I was going to wash with dawn, use a claybar to get some spots off the paint, and then use NXT wax. Is this not good enough? Will that step two polish really make much of a difference?

I too use Meguiars. Great products. I start off with the Deep Crystal Car Wash, Deep Crystal Polish, then Cleaner Wax or Gold Class Wax. I also use Gold Class Endurance Gel for the tires.

I did that exact same "plan of action" yesterday minus step 2 and my z looks great. Those are great products and they are very cheap (i got them for free).

I did something similar over the weekend.

I had purchased a bottle of NXT for my folks. I was visiting them over the weekend. My Z had a coat of Blackfire placed 2 weeks ago and i decided to put a coat of NXT over it. It looked pretty good
