Brad, thank you VERY much for the answers.

It's a beautiful 75 degrees out right now, but no Z.......time to order my Blackfire. I think I'll try their QD....might as well live a little, as I'm not making Z payments!

Default Have kit need Clay bar...

My 'New Car' kit arrived but will I need to clay the car? If so, where can I find clay bar locally? Hopefully I can pick some up at any autozone....

Hey G!

I did the blackfire treatment weekend before last..stuff is great. In my case, after I washed the car and did the plastic bag over the hand test, it was pretty rough. I found some at Pep Boys over off of 183 and Metric. I just used Mother's Clay Bar - all they had..

So, I'm planning to use the blackfire system on my Daytona Blue and I just have one quick question.

Can the system be layered like the Zaino to provide more shine/protection?

You sure can! It says so in the instructions. I put on 2 coats and it actually gives a very rich/deep shine. The Redline actually looks like "fresh blood", for lack of a better description .

Default 2 coats of which?

Would that be two coats of polish and one coat of wax or one coat of polish and two coats of wax? I was going to apply two coats of polish and one coat of wax to seal in the shine.. I think that would work best but I'm not sure.

Actually, the instructions recommend one coat of the polish to remove the old wax and fine scratches, then apply 2 coats of the paint protection or more as desired. I am planning on a 3rd coat this weekend...weather permitting .

Sounds good... I'll do that. So, I gather we can just layer up the 'paint protection' like Zaino? Does it look better after each layer?

Did you also 'claybar' the car before the polish & wax?

Yes I used a clay bar. It pulled up some dirt but less than I thought it would. I detailed all my steps earlier in this thread, and the amount of time it took.

This is afer only one coat of the sealant. I haven't had good weather on the weekend to get a second coat on.

You betcha, especially if you have a darker color car, like red or black. The shine is richer and deeper. It has that wet paint look.

You cant layer a polish, as it will just remove itself. (note, Zaino isn't a polish, but a sealant, their marketing is a little wierd). The protectant can definately be layerd to enhance the shine, slickness, and duraility. You can't apply more than three coats of Blackfire/ZFX at a time as it will become hard to remove.

BTW: For those who purchased Blackfire, you guys are in luck. As I have said before, i found Blackfire's ability to hold its slickness, and to a lesser degree, its shine very long. Well, Terry over at CMA took this to heart and back in late July, began working with the chemists and tweaked the formula. Aparently (to those I've talked to) its MUCH better durability, and feels slicker. I have yet to get my hands on some.
