Default Black, bugs, sticky, and Zaino

Hi:

I have had my Black Enthusiast for about 3 weeks now. I didn't let the dealer detail it cause I didnt want the swirls in the paint.

The sticky from the shipping plastic is still all over the car, in straight lines in some place. Additionally I have large cross-section of insects across the front (Do you know the last thing that goes through a bugs mind when he hits your windshield? His ***).

I plan on washing using dove (first 4 washes I have used Meguiars gold shampoo and conditioner) and it does not take the sticky or the bugs off. I will do the claybar and the Zaino route after that. (Great writeups on methods here).

I have the porter cable orbital thing. Do I need to use it.

I am worried that when I scrub the bugs off I will scratch the clear coat. I live in a very very sunny place and the bugs are baked on. I already have some fairly deep clearcoat scratches (besides the swirls).

I have the two buckets and 2 washmitts and have been using them. I have claybarred and waxed before. I am new to black paint and Nissan paint and random orbital polishers.

What do I use to get the bugs off?

What do I use to get the shipping sticky off.

Thanks

Mike

you can use goo gone for the sticky stuff and probably the bugs. Thats what i used for the emblem adheasive. Do you mean washing first with dawn? not dove? Dawn is used only when there is wax already on the car and you need to remove it. You need microfiber towels to prevent swirls.

^^ I agree, use goo gone to remove the adhesive and bugs, then dawn and zaino and you'll be all set

goo gone, bug and tar remover, dawn, Zaino You might have to use the polish a few times to get rid of the swirls though. I always used an orbital buffer but I've only hand waxed the Z.

try 3m smr or meguiars DACP with your orbital for the swirls and clearcoat scratches

go over to autopia.org for better info on detailing

I got the leftover sticky stuff off during the initial wash and claybar.
