Default Bugs Bugs Bugs

Hey everyone what do you guys use to remove bugs and other crud that sticks to the front bumper. Oh what is the best way to handle the little chips in the front. I was thinking a little touch up paint and wax...?

I would get a Mother's Clay bar to remove the bugs.

Ihave heard of those. How do you use them? After you wash or during the wash?

If you leave the bugs on for too long (a week is too long) the acids in the bugs body will etch the clear coat and that will have to be repaired with wet sanding and compound buffing so you will want to avoid that and get the bugs off in a day or two after they get on there and the best way is to simply wash them off with car wash and water or with a detailer spray and your towel. Clay bar will also work on old crusty bugs IF the paint is not etched and the residue is ABOVE the surface of the paint.

It comes in a detailing kit. You just spray on the polish to the area you desire and scrub off the bugs with the bar. Then just wipe off with a towel. This is done after the wash. The point is to get the surface as smooth as possible for waxing.

You must lube the paint with either a detailer spray or you can make your own paint lube for the clay bar as Zaino instructs its clay bar users to do by mixing 1/2 cap full of car wash in 16 ounces of water. Keep the paint very wet and just slide the clay over the paint using enough pressure to keep the clay on the paint and do not let if fall on the ground as if it falls on the ground it will pick up rocks and debris, I advise new clayers to work over a towel laid under the spot they are working on in case you drop the slippery clay bar.
