Default Man, I'm going buggy...............

Summer hit here in the last two days. Bugs, Bugs, Bugs; nothin'but bugs. Took me a half hour of cleaner & "spritz" polish to get the Brick lookin' good again.

We are all gonna be running for a clear bra or large supply of cleaner & polish!

One piece of good news: no paint chips...even with a 6 month supply of bugs on front.

these were taken after my drive to Vegas from Phoenix. must have been 1500 bugs or more.

THANK GOD for my clear bra.... some of the bugs were huge... and when they hit you at 130+mph it's like a small stone hitting you....

This car does seem to do its share of bug killing. I've noticed the window itself collects way more bugs than my GTP ever did. I think the angle might be more upright, with maybe a shorter hood that allows the wind to hit the glass at a more direct angle or something.

Clear bra is a good thing, though.

mine was $400 installed. I'd suggest using only 3M film. Avery makes some too but most installers I spoke with said the Avery material is too thin and it sucks.

N74DV where did you have you clear bra installed? I am also in Mesa and I'm looking for a reputable installer. From what I can see in your post your bra looks good.....are you happy with the install they did? How about the quality of the material? Thanks, Mark.

I had Ultra-Shield of Scottsdale do mine. They came to my house and did it in my garage in about 1.5 hours.

The install was great! there were water bubbles under the film for the first week or so, but they subsided.

I also paid an additional $75 to have the headlamp protectors installed... I HIGHLY reccomend them! they are a full 40 mil thick.... and when they dry they are 100% transparent... you can't tell they are on unless you know to look for them.

They gaurantee that a rock will not crack your headlamps... that's good considering Nissan want's about $700 for each one.

thanks for the info......How noticable is the line from the end of the film that goes across your hood?

the line is there.... and if you look for it you will see it... from about 7 feet away it dissappears. the film is pretty thin and perfectly clear.

At night you can't see it unless you are less than 3 feet from it.

it's very much worth it... Nissan paint seems to be very soft and not durable. The bra has saved me many times over...

especially in AZ with summer approaching... on the freeways you will begin to see semi-truck re-tread tires thrown all over. I've already hit 2 of them... only damage was a big nasty black mark on the clear bra which buffed right out. I'd hate to think of what would have happened if I did not have the bra.

Though I reserve the right to change my mind, I'm going bra-less and if I have to have the front bumper repainted every few years so be it. I'm not convinced that if a clear bra has to be replaced for whatever the reason both the bra and the glue will come off w/o damage to the bumper.....particularly after 3-4 years.

So far I have not had any problems with paint chips. I keep several coats of wax on the car; bug guts have wiped easily thus far.

for what it's worth...

we use the same film on aircraft. on the twin turboprop I used to fly with my dad the 3M film was used on certain parts that meet the oncoming wind/debris. This particular plane flies in excess of 320mph. The film was on for 4 years before it needed replacing due to it wearing thin. That's 4 years of hail, ice, bugs, dust... all at 300+ mph.

no damage to underlying paint at all.. it came off with a light hit from a heat gun. A new piece was applied and all was well..

you can rest assured that the 3M film does it's job.

I think I got mine for $400 + $40 for the headlights. I couldn't find anybody in Nashville doing it except the Infiniti dealership. I had to go to Knoxville.

Here are some pics of my hood, to show the line. Also included a headlight shot to show the line there, and how clear the headlight covers are:
