ok...going to clay for the 1st time...my 95 jeep will be my test bed...she'd got some over spray from some touch up painting (one of the main reasons I bought the clay)...I bought the clay magic system (blue clay bar & lube)...can/should I use megs QD for lube? is the supplied lube decent at QD'ing?...and will 1/2 the bar be enough for my jeep(want to use the other 1/2 for my Z...I know cheap b@stard that I am!)???

 

the lube supplied will be perfectly fine. 1/2 a bar should be good for the jeep.

I personally use car wash soap/water for lube.

thanks HRG...I've read up on claying...just wondered how the supplied lube was...use that to clay and save my megs QD for QDing...or use the megs QD for claying as well if it has "superior" lubing properties...errr ummm superior lubing qualities...uhh well you know what I mean!

 

i'd save the QD for later. The Blue Magic clay lube will be more then satisfactory

 

I use regular kid's modelling clay and a solution of simple green and water (10% simple green).
I get the same effect, and the clay does not seem to be any different.

 

really johnZ....never heard on anyone doin that...but if it works for you...great...

 

I tried kids modeling clay (Poly modeling clay) and it did not even come close to competing w/ real detailing clay.

and I wouldn't use simple green on my paint, the key is for your clay lube to act as a lube and be slick, SG is far from it


but as said, if it's working for you, more power to it
