Default Only a 14.550 @ 99.22

Ok I have a 350Z track model with an Injen CAI, Kinetix V4 Plenum, Kinetix High Flow Cats, and Injen SES Exhaust. I don't think I am a bad driver, but my fastest run is 14.550 @ 99.22mph. I did have some trouble with launching and I was chirping the tires in second gear, but I don't think I could have run much faster if I had hooked up well. My 60ft. times were always in the 2.3-- range. Here are the advantages and disadvantages of my car/location.

Advantages: Intake, Plenum, Cats, Exhaust, 350EVO Short Shifter, took out spare tire

Disadvantages: Heavy 19" wheels, street tires, 2200ft. elevation, full tank of gas, 91 octane (highest we get here in Vegas).

Even the NHRA elevation calculator factors it as a 14.177 @ 101.88mph at sea level. Would smaller/lighter wheels and 1/4 tank of gas make that much of a difference, or am I just that bad of a driver?

mainly the driving.. a 99mph trap is really good for high 13s with a decent driver. So an excellent driver would be in the 13.7 range with that mph. Factor in your correction and that makes your car a mid to low 13 sec car at sea level and with an excellent driver. I am also sure your trap would have been a little higher if you knew what shift rpms your car likes the best.

Just practice a bit i guess.

Yeah, that run was my fifth run in the Z. Does anybody have any tips on keeping the rpms steady when staged for a good launch?

I am by no means an expert, but over the past almost 2 years I have drag'ed my 350Z quite a few times. I don't really tach 2k rpm and pop the clutch like many would suggest, I just kinda 1/2 gas it on yellow light #2 and pop the clutch on yellow light #3 .. you will get a great launch with only a brief but good amount of wheel spin. Of course you wanna WOT (floor it) within a split second of launching, basically as your car leaves the pad. Shifting to 2nd gear I don't just "bark" but it peels out for what seems to be 2 seconds lol, then 3rd gear "barks". Anyway, I get 2.1 60' and my 1/8 is around 8.9 @ 79/80mph. I shift around 6300 RPM's in every gear, finishing in 4th.

November '04:
93 octane gas
elevation ? (Steele, AL)
41 degrees F
humidity ? (was clear, so probably not too high)
-- results in my sig. from that night

P.S. I am going back tonight, looks like a cool clear night again I added a bottle of Lucas Octane Boost (says not street legal, 3 times the legal amount of additives we will see lol). Maybe I can find a scanner for slips, or use a digital camera at work.

dont use octane boost...its a waste and probably will slow the car down. you want to run the lowest octane possible without detonation.

It might... but talking to some people here and there 10.3:1 compression ratio may effectively use 95 octane, even as high as 97 (though I doubt it). I just wanna see, gonna do a little driving around to allow the ECU a few minutes to figure it out before I track it. Takes 20-25 minutes to get to the track, and I will try to crank it about 2-3 times between now and then.

Well, I think I did ok, compared to everyone else out there...

Beat a supercharged S2000 He was having launch issues, couldn't figure out how to get that cracker-jack toy moving. His best time all night was 14.7 and he said he just 5k RPM revved it and popped the clutch. I think he needs to get new tires, he has run 13.1 before on his old stock tires.

I saw Ninja Z there, sweet ride man He got a 13.5 @ 106 in his HKS supercharged Z. His 60' was like 2.25 so he was suffering the lack of horsies everyone else was (only trapping 106 mph).

I got 14.1 to 14.3 all night, 60' were around 2.1 to 2.2 the problem is I was only trapping 99 mph every time. I was low 40's, but foggy so the humidity musta been horrible

A stock SRT-4 was there running 14.7 and a 300zx that "runs 12.9's" got 13.7 while an eagle talon has run 11's before got 14.2 LOL

A grand national with slicks ran 13.4 if that tells you anything about tonight extremely slow track. He was very, very pissed.

All the Rustangs were 14.0 to 15.8, and none were still stock of course

So, maybe next time we won't be running underwater haha.

Drop the rear tire pressure down to 18 psi while your at the strip. It helps tremendously with grip and reduces wheel hope in my case.

I had my tire pressure at 40 when I went there, and I dropped them to 29 and it seemed to hurt my 60' times so I didn't lower them any more.
