I joined a drag club and timed it for the first time yesterday... Just like to share my first time experience at the drag strip.. Three words sums it up->Man I sucked!!! I pretty much did everything you AREN'T suppose to do!~
On the first run, I totally forgot to turn off the VDC... Turned it off right before shifting to 2nd. 17.0 sec.... I won't be making this mistake again...
For the second run, I reved up RPM too much and let out the clutch too fast during the take off, spinning the wheels too much... and got 15.1 sec...

I'm definitely shooting for mid to low 14s. I've been reading up old posts and seems like the best take off can be achieved if I slip the clutch... Now I give more respects to some of you guys running low 14s and high 13s bone stock at the track!

 

Whoa, glad you had fun at least. If you post you r60ft 1/8 time and trap and 1/4 trap speed we can help you out some. My guess with those times even with a bad launch is that you need practice everywhere. Shifting and def launching. Post your slips, and remember it will only get better.

 

My first time racing down the track at 10pm at night at gateway international raceway and it was 90+degrees and humid, i ran a 14.6 at 97mph with a .206 reaction and a 2.2 60ft, it was stated that people were running.5-1sec slower than usual that ngiht.

This was also on stock tire pressure.
