Popping the clutch?
I feel sorry for your Z.
Just take your time, be patient and you'll get a feel for it. And if you don't...uh, well, maybe you'll get use to it once you get your next clutch installed.

Sounds like the clutch will take some abuse either way so I suggest riding the clutch when shifting until you get a feel for where the catch point is.
You can adjust the clutch engage point if you think it's too high.

For the first to second gear shift, it easy to pull the lever back and towards you. Make sure that you are pulling the lever straight back.
2) do you guys feel that the clutch point is really high???
Every clutch is different. If it doesn't suit you, have it adjusted.
Practice, Practice, Practice...
