Default Drag Racing w/Tien Flex & EDFC?

Do any of you guys out there drag race with the Tien Flex Coilovers w/EDFC? If you do, what settings do you run on the EDFC? I went Thurs. night an had some trouble finding the best setting. I ended up running 16 in the front and 12 in the rear.

hmm i think alberto has coilovers but im not sure if there TEIN. Either way it messes up your launch no matter what setting you have them on because they dont recover when you launch on them like the stock suspension.

^^^I know. My car is set up for track/autocross. I was just wondering if anybody else has them and what they set them on for drag racing.

For drag racing you want them set on full soft. The more weight transfer to the rear the better. I have JIC's which are a little stiffer than the Teins. Even on full soft I get no weight transfer to the rear. Its harder to launch on the JIC's than the soft stock suspenion, which was a breeze.....

Thanks Alberto. Maybe it is my driving style, but on full soft, all I got was wheel hop.

Could be the tire pressure, track prep, how your launching, etc.....how do you launch when you experiance wheel hop. In over 2.5 years in the Z I can only think of 1X when Ive had wheel hop-it was very cold outside.

For this last event the track was prepped to NHRA standards so it was super sticky. I launched at around 2200 rpm and I was on Dunlop Sport Race (track racing R-Compound) tires. I know that these tires probably have a stiffer sidewall than most so I did not change the pressure from 38lbs.

Well, the high pressure for dragging, and the stiff sidewalls imo contributed to your wheel hop. Did you try lowering the pressure to say 26-27 psi? On stock tires and all my stret tires thats what I have lowered to in some cases to hit 2.0 60ft's.....

I think you would be better off lowering the pressure. Even with the wheel spin what did you run? Im just wondering cuz a friend will be running his new 06 on november 10th.

Well the new 06 has 298hp correct? That should make a little difference. Anyways, I ran at the speedway here in Vegas which is approx. 2200 ft. above sea level, plus the temperature was 105, so I ran a 14.2XX @ 100mph.

Thats a good time for your elevation. A local guy here in his stock Z just ran 14.3 @ 99 first time out at sea level so your good. What was your 60ft?

2.2XX 60's with the stiff sidewalled 255 rear tires and coilovers. Most of my problems come when shifting into second. Gotta practice that still. Once the weather cools down hopefully I will break into the 13s.

Typically you want full soft up front and a bit stiffer in the rear. You want the weight to transfer from the front end to the rear wheels. When I had the Teins I ran 16 front and 10 rear when I wanted to launch it

Ok I found this NHRA Altitude conversion chart at http://www.hardcore50.com/members/correctionfactors.htm

It doesn't seem too accurate to me. Here is what it says I should have run at sea level...

2200 ft. - 14.239 @ 100.63 mph

Sea Level - 13.874 @ 103.54 mph

Does this calculation sound correct?

I hope its right. I didn't think that elevation made that big of a difference. I need to move to California.

You have to rember the heat too. And track prep i dunno bout this year but the last couple years at MM the track wasnt prepped very well. I havent been out there this year or for the new thursday night thing. You would gain et and trap speed by goin to a track like firebird.
