Why is drag strip called track
Race tracks have boundries and a path which cars are directed. With this definition, 1/4 mile strips do certainly fit the bill of track.
The road courses/circuit is more of courses with circular or elliptical path for cars to follow.
That is why whever we talk about race tracks, we tend to be bit more specific by describing the tracks as 1/4 track, road course, autox,...etc

The word "track" to me can be any place where an event is timed. Weather it be a horse track, 1/4 track, roadcourse or any other variation. That is why the 1/4 "strips" are called tracks, if you disagree you are a tard
Exactly thats why I would think its still considered a track. But i call it a drag strip so why is there even a question here.

ill call it "drag strip" if im talking to someone who really aint into cars...but if im around car ppl, ill call it the track, cause i dont know or hang out with anyone that would go to any other track, other than one that measures the distance in 1,320 ft
Why are "cool" and "hot" both good things?
Why is "dog" bad and "dawg" good?
Could someone please explain, "skippy" and "swell?"
Slang doesn't have to make sense. But, yeah, it probably should be called the "strip."
