Default 350Z Wheel Hop!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New here!

Just wanted to ask. I just bought a 05 35th Anniversary 6MT. The Z seems to have alot of wheel hop on launch. What is the best RPM to dump the clutch to avoid this hop.............

Bro you don't dump the clutch on a Z or you'll have a terrible 60ft time sliding all over the place and crap. You feather the clutch or you do like others off this forum, take off from a stop like normal. If you decide to feather the clutch use above 3k rpm and find what rpm works best for you. Feathering doesn't mean come off the clutch slowly, it means to come up gradually quick but don't pop it or dump it!

Yeah, the Z isn't an STI or Evo with AWD. Dumping the clutch at high RPM is only trouble...

I usually launch my Z around 2500RPM and feather the clutch out...

I appreciate the reply. The weather is nice in Omaha today so i will give her some hell this afternoon. I really like this Z. Its definately not as fast as I thought it would be but it performs well none the less. I am thinking about a turbo or supercharger this spring. Is there any kits that would be safe to run as an everyday driver?

Wheel hop is the result of not giving the car enough throttle. The tires should spin in first gear.

The only way for anyone to know if you are pushing the 350Z to its potential is to post some time slips.

You can make any of the turbo/supercharger systems streetable. Its all in the tune. These forums are a vast wealth of knowledge. I suggest you take some time and do your research. Good choice on getting a Z by the way, and welcome to the forums!

Default quaife lsd

I'm definately going to look into one of these diffs. My Z seems to hop really bad. I tried feathering the clutch but anything over 3000 still creates wheel hop. I haven't taken it to the strip due to the weather and lack of a track in this area. I bought my 35th with 8,000 miles. Does a turbo kit void warranty? I figured it would, and if so i wanted to wait untill I hit the 36,000 mark.

Yes a turbo kit voids your warranty. I do know that the Stillen and Vortech supercharger kits have their own warranties though.

I don't quite know what a warrenty is, but yes it does...I think its the Vortech, maybe its the Procharger? One of those centrifugal types has one. I believe you have to pay extra for it though.

Wheel hop in the Z is a sign that you dont know how to launch it correctly and thats it. When I first had my z I had the same problem, and I havent had wheel hop now for a couple of years. Just learn how to launch.

Hahaha sorry but you can't even launch it properly and you're already talking about turbos.
