i went 13.04 on street tires with a 1.86 60'

and 12.96 on et streets with a 1.74

good drivers can pull 1.8s all day long on street tires

Great job, but its a little more difficult when you actually put down 440whp.

ok bro, its difficult for YOU but it seems there are plenty of people doing it. IF you understand the concept of finesse and throttle modulation its not that hard. i know plenty of guys with stock mustangs putting down less horsepower on drag radials that cant cut withing a .1 of what I can in the 60'.

I heard the record was 10.8 on DRs for the C6 Z06.

a little OT, how about that guy with 3 Z06s!! plus his other cars ...

Your sorta contradicting yourself but okay. He's obviously a good driver since he hit 11.3, so why wouldnt he benefit more than .1 off his 60ft with DR.

Dont take this personally dude, we're just having a discussion. You sound like i'm bagging on everyone who gets a good time or something.

Probably because he doesn't have alot of runs on either tire. I'm sure eventually when he gets ALOT of passes on both setups, his DR 60 ft. will beat his street tire 60 ft. by at least two tenths. Time will tell I guess.

not really contradicting, im saying that people that know how to 60' on street tires can and a lot more that cant, its not like there is only one guy in the world that can pull off 1.7-1.8 street tire 60's. There is a local guy here that pulls 1.5/1.6 on truck tires in a 9 sec rwd sbc powered 2nd gen rx7. Its not that hard once you get the hang of it. Im not making this personal at all, you are the one trying to belittle my statement with the fact about horsepower. Well you arent WOT when you are trying to 60' on street tire so the driver modulating the throttle is more of a key than the amount of rwhp.

as far as the drag radial times, you dont know the weather diffs or any other variables so its kind of hard.

Realistically, I wonder how responsive this car is to bolt-on's given it's performance level.

Headers alone put these cars right at 500 rwhp. Untuned cam cars are in the 550 range so far, and the new tuning software is just now getting out.

some people just really know how to launch on a street tire. Its actually kinda hard to launch a DR. We are also talking about a really big street tire too.
That dude has a crazy collection of cars too!

I think your numbers are a bit optimistic.

1. Partial tune, Headers, mild cam, and some exhaust port work = 620/532 http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=481983

2. Untuned, headers through cats, smaller cam than above =546/505 http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=430859

3. Untuned headers through stock exhaust = 483/460 http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=387484

4. Partial tune with headers through stock exhaust = 491/463 http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread...ghlight=LS7+hp

The real killer for the LS7 motor is in the tuning; when the IAT temps rise above a minimal point the computer pulls ALOT of timing. So most cars lose power after numerous runs without cooling down.

Tuning solves the IAT problem and explains the huge gains from just tuning alone. The last link gained 34rwhp just from tuning.

So I'd say his numbers aren't optimistic at all. Since the LS7 software was just cracked I 'd say we can hope to see alot more from these motors.

Yes, but if you'll do some in depth reading over there the LS7 (as well as LS2 powered vehicles) have a system called torque management that takes readings from different drivetrain components. When the system algorithm determines you are being too agressive and excessive strain is being put on the drivetrain it will pull timing to cut power to save the drivetrain.

Any launch over 3000 or so seems to invoke the TM with drag radials and the limit with street tires is still under 3500 or so.

He is still working on his launch and I would imagine a 11.2 or very low 11s is going to be possible with the stock car. Another member at Corvette Forums has already gone 10.98 @ 130 with headers and a tune on stock tires...so Ranger's times are the real deal.

Luke, actually the LS7 doesn't have a problem with hot lapping. The torque management is what is pulling timing. There are a couple of guys that hotlapped their cars 10+ times in a row with consistent runs no different than a tenth of a second or so between passes.

I think several people feel that 10s will be possible out of a stock car once TM is eliminated...although it would no longer technically be "stock" which is what Ranger is trying to work around.

From what I've read he has been talking with several tuners trying to find out the limits that TM engages to try and keep the car stock and get an outstanding pass.

i dont really think eliminating that dumb TM, would no longer consider your car stock. (Im only calling it dumb too, for drag racing purposes, other than that its kinda cool) I mean its not like he's modding his car to place the stock output any higher.

Holy Sh$T! And they're SAE to boot.

I stand corrected.
