Drag Race turned deadly
This is from a Philadelphia News station. Not much detail of the story, but you should get the idea:

Be careful, it's not worth your life!

Get these kids off the streets and into a situation where they can loose control of their car with nothing to hit. If they had some clue how to control their car when it's in a situation where they could loose control these deaths could be avoided. It should be mandatory that you autox or attend racing schools for a few years before they every let you have a drivers license. at the very least make a skid control school madatory. It upsets me how easy it is to get your drivers license. All they require is that you know what the F%*K a stop sign is. Unless your blind or just plain DUMB it's to EASY.

Over 50,000 people are killed or kill themselves on our highways ever year.
BUT what does that have to do with driving our Zs ?

This is exactly why I think street racing should not be discussed in this forum. This forum should be about legitimate competition. The only competition in street racing is how soon you want to say "hi" to Darwin. I don't feel sorry for the driver ever, in fact, it's one less stunna I have to worry about on the roads. On the flip side, there are many innocent bystanders and other drivers not party to this pissing match killed each year to.

To make that statement policitcally correct you should say...
"The only competetion in street racing is how soon you want to say hi to St. Peter"
or
"The only competetion in street racing is how soon you want to end your meaningless existance"
uh, believing in the PROCESS of darwinism or evolution has nothing to do with believing in the EXISTANCE of god. There is nothing that makes the 2 mutually exclusive, if your belief in a god excludes something else, it doesn't mean that everyone's idea of a god does.
To get back on topic - street racing bad.

The title of the forum has "etc" in it, and says "racing". It doesn't say off road, on road, track only, pros only, etc.
If we support the sport of racing, autoxing, etc, we should be responsible and point out to our younger audience the safety and responsability aspects of the same.
There are probably many young readers here. There are many that could assume we race our Zs on the road. It is never wrong to point out to them we are responsible and consider our safety and others much more important than the car itself.
As a society of enthusiasts we have the responsability of setting a proper example.
