Default Results of moroso "VERY DISSAPOINTED"

Well as some of you may know i bought some RX-7 3rd gen wheels the unreinforced versions with some MT' et streets. I went to moroso in the quest to break the 11's. Before i had done 12.3 at 113 in my 19 iforged wheels with toyo t1-s. Well i figuered with the FD wheels and MT et streed i would have a chance at breaking the 11's. BTW i think my 19's weight easily 25 pounds over the FD wheels. Well i was really wrong.

I got to the track jacked the car and swap to the FD wheels. I go inspect my car. Then I and get in line and wait to run the car. Well i have to say it was consistent i range in speed only twice 109 to 111 all the time and ET was 12.7 to 12.5. I really dont know what it was but i just couldnt get my speed going my best 0 to 60 was a 1.999 which i have gotten better then that. I dont know what went wrong here but im really dissapointed and confused.

Can anyone explain to me what is going on or tell me something that i dont know.

Ill post VID's and pics later

It would be helpful if you posted some time slips.

Temperature?
Humidity?
Barometric pressure?

Thanks. 2.0 - 2.1 second 60-foot time looks like my street tires. 2.0 - 2.1 seconds is consistent so you know that your technique is good.

1/8 mile mph: 89
1/4 mile mph: 111
In the second 660 feet you are picking up only 22mph. This is reasonable for a naturally aspirated 350Z with simple bolt-ons.

My unprofessional conclusion: Heat and humidity are killing your ET. Don't be discouraged. My best ET is 13.40 seconds. Last weekend I was running 14.0 seconds. Same track.

Yea I just ran a 12.3 like 3 to 4 weeks ago I know the night I ran that time it wasn’t so humid I will take the car back to the track when it gets retuned to 9 pounds and the cold season is in right now the its hurricane season down here in Miami. So if im not wrong its very humid and rain is frequent.

you really need to get a higher stall for your car. et streets arent going to do that much for you otherwise, you would have been better off with a set of drag radials. you can probably leave those et streets around 18psi or so with your current setup btw.

if you are going to continue to mod and drag race. you need to log your corrected et's not for bragging rights, but for comparison.

Obviously do a good burnout else they are useless.
What pressure are your Et Streets at? 15.5 seems to be the magic number on the Z
Are you bogging off the launch? If so you need to launch higher.
I usually rev to 5500 rpm and then dump the clutch (I have stage II axles)

Running on ET Streets is definetely different than running on DR's it took me a while to get used to them.

hope this helps, good luck

I first used them at 20 psi for the first 3 runs then i went 30 psi for the last 2 with them on and then i swapped to my 19's.

Traction was no problem becouse i was launching the car at like 2200 rpm's and i would take of good. Only once it hoped like twice of the line and hooked. I dont know if it was the humidity that was killing my traps and times but it was bad. Atleast i expexted to make a 12.2 or somethimg like that.

Also my burnouts were good. I dont know whats happening. Ill go back when i install my fcon and fuel return. Lets see what happens then.

Anyone else.

your trap speed is BARELY 11s I'm thinking. 111mph is.....well, imo, a low 12 trap speed and not much better. I think you're losing speed/power somewhere.

Also, I don't care how good it felt taking off, a 2.0 60' on et streets is lousy! You can pull a better 60' than that on street tires man!

btw, in your sig, you have "0-60 1.xxx" dude, the 60' isn't a 0-60 time, it's a 60' mark, meaning how long it takes you to get down the first 60 feet of the track.

you have way too much pressure in those tires, dangerously so. You are not to put more than 30 psi into these tires and if you start out with 30 and then do a burnout you're at probaly 32 ro so....be careful
try out between 15.5 and 18. I actually had the best results at 13 with a 1.66 60'
here's a link to the MT recomended site:
http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/tech_pressure.html

you are launching way too low for et streets. I launch at 3000 on street tires...launch at least at 4000 and work you way up. Again I launch at 5500

last but not least yes, 111mph is mid 12's not 11's it also of course depends on the track, temperature elevation and so forth.

Yea i know but im AT so i need a stall convereter i put my tire pressure higher becouse i trapped 109 with he tire pressure at 20 so i went to 30 to see if the tire pressure would better my timing becouse traction was not an issue only launching at 2200.

I was there 2 weeks ago for Midnight Madness, best I could do was 13.82@101.1 with intake, exhaust, testpipes, 5/16" iso thermal spacer. In december it was 50* or so when I went and ran a 13.79 with just intake. Ambient temperature makes a big difference.

you may want to try flashing the converter. my buddies bolt on a4 fbod was cutting 2.0s on et street drs stalling it up. he flashed it and cut a .1 better. but once you get a higher stall you will be in the low 12's in this weather easily with your power levels. you can leave upper teens in your tires now and probably 16 or so when you get the stall. you wont even need to do a big burnout with them at this point.

pm me if you want a good spot to track your ets online with all of the weather data....

You need to do a good burn out with those tires. 1.9 is not a good 60'.

They should be good for at least a 1.6-1.7 with your power. A higher stall would help as well.

I doubt he could cut a 1.6/1.7 60ft with less than 2500rpm's off the line. Id say youre times are def attributed to the weather, last week I saw several Z owners I know running .5 slower than usual it was a huge shock to see what humidity will do to your et's. FWIW I ran 12.0's mainly and 2 11.9's, go figure.
