I just got smoked by a Dodge SRT-4
He beat me by at least one car length in 1/4 mile race. Granted that I'm not really that great of a diver yet, especially since I'm kind of new at driving a stick, but I thought I did decent for my first race. Are both cars stock for stock pretty much the same in terms of overall speed and performance? I can only assume that I lost the race because of my driving skills rather than the specs of the Z.

My buddy Marcos has a shopping cart that can beat an SRT-4.

Dont feel bad bro...there are literally dozens of regular ole cars, trucks and SUVs out there these days with 0-60 times in the sub 6 seconds to 60 time frame. You can easily get beaten byt a LOT of cars as many more are drivers races than you believe. The 350Z is a beaut. A drag car it is not.

At the track, stock SRT-4's run about the same as stock 350z's. They usually 60 a little higher, but close the gap with a slightly higher trap speed. On any given day, you can beat anyone - that doesn't prove what model is generally faster than the other. The vehicles are so close that it IS a drivers race.

I watched a bunch of SRT's run some very serious times at the last NOPI event. They were trapping 118+ all day, and they had Mopar stage 3 or 4! Thats not that much money spent really!

I don't think I'd call them "monsters".
Get a some good rubber, some nitrous, and learn how to drive and you'll be in 12's easy with a Z.
Get a simple bolt on turbo kit, some good rubber, and you'll be in 11's.
The only reason why Z's don't get as much respect at the track is because 95% of Z owners can't drive worth squat.
I read threads like this and it makes me want to slap some Z owners. Seriously, learn to drive and then start blaming it on your car.
