has anyone here try to race a 02 pontiac grand prix before? A friend of mine got one, it got Supercharged 3.8 V6 w/ 280 lbs of torque @ 3200 rpm. Yeah, I know...it sound crappy ( big SC motor only put down this much poer ) but the number is comparable to the Z....also he got an auto, there's no way he would missed shift if we race.

I think the Z "SHOULD" win,....but not sure.....

 

Stock you will win. 500 dollars in mods it will be even. It's big handicap is 39 mph. It gets stuck in 3rd gear a very laggy bad gear to be in. If it has a DHP chip you will lose from a roll.

1k dollars in mods he will begin to beat you.

I had one and beat a G35 coupe from a 25mph roll by about 2+ car lengths. I pulled so hard on my brother's B16 hatchback like as though it was going back to Japan. I beat Boxster back then and I still do today.

The motor is actually more fun than a VQ. It is similar to a LS1 or grand national motor but iron block V6 and supercharged.

 

holy f*ck, that thing is faster than i thought....

all i got on my Z is HKS Dual-ti, Blitz filter and Yokohama AVS.....
thought i could beat it, because i beat Carrera's and NSX's before.

 

What are his mods?

I made a post in the street racing forum several months back with an encounter of a supercharged grand prix. I think he was modded though; he did have all those guages in the upper left area where the windshield is. We raced twice - all from a roll. First race was from 3rd and I was at 4500RPMs -- we were pretty much even teh whole way and I shut it off at the end of 3rd. Second race I only ran him in 2nd gear and pretty much teh same outcome (although my 2nd ran out and he kept going lol). I wish I had an empty tank at the time though :P (I'm running stoQ setup) :P
