Default Very humbling day at the track

Went to Etown today with the 300cforums.com guys...A few of the same guys Doug ran not long ago..Well needless to say those SRT8 beasts were running hideous times...12 second kind of hideous.....My punk azz with 20 inchers couldnt muster anything better than 14.5 ....That aint the worse part....Gulp....the mph was.....................................................Im so ashamed..................................................... .......96 FREAKIN MPH ...

Every RSX with a Hondata and CAI will be looking for me now ..I really didnt expect that since I have no problem keeping up on the highway rolls with other 13 second cars like stock Z's, WRX's, etc...The track really exposed my candy azz Those rims made my Z the equivalent of a pretty chick that cant ***..Looks good but cant deliver Well I always knew the 20 would be a liability on track but I didnt think it would be this bad...

It was spur of the moment or I would have taken my stock rims...But Im glad I took the steamrollers...It was an eye opener...Sad part is that up until I left I was the only Z there...So no other Z's there to eradicate the rancid stench I laid down after every pass...Im going to church tomorrow....Hopefully this sin can be forgiven...

Just kidding of course.

90-percent of members think they are hot dogs. Then they go to the dragstrip. Those who are cool, like yourself, post 14.5 second time slips. Other just keep quiet and continue to post absurd street kill tales.

Fat and heavy 20-inch wheels hurt. Still I am glad that you are at the dragstrip rather than playing Fast & Furious on the streets.

Making the Z look like a turtle in front of 100's of people is not cool at all, especially since we all bust our *** trying to get respect, but it was all spur of the moment so thats definatly understandable,

HOWEVER i would say i would be pretty damn upset if you'de go back to the track with 20's again and run ****y times and have the Z faithful bowing their heads down in embarrasment as they see a Z run mid 14's down the strip while getting smoked by a civic with a fart can

+1

I agree with David.

At least you have some track time on your belt now. Keep going and improve. You might want to invest in some 17's for track use only.

Snakebitten, I never didnt think you tracked your car. Those 20's are awesome, and I agreed that it probably didnt hurt your car that much from a roll, all the times it was brought up, but its a little more obivous at the track. Oh well, even considering, I've seen worse though. Watch out for those RSX's now!

I tried every type of shifting techniques that I used to do with my other cars and nothing could overcome the 20" anchors...I really want to weigh these rims with the tires on just to see how much they weigh. I knew the ET would suffer but never expected that much of a hit on the mph..Going to get some 17 or 18 SSR light weight rims for the track now....leave the 20" where they belong...On the street...

Adrien thanks man....I called him and gave him the blow by blow of how I was doing before we got cut off....Hopefully I can still roll with you

Dean lol...Yeah man Im slooooow....Deffinately going FI now...Got nothin for the Subie......yet

Everyone else thanks for the reply...I feel a little better after church

All of your mods are show not go. What did you expect? When are people going to realize that 20 inchers, springs and stickers don't make your car fast nice, they make it slow rice. lol.

Check out davidv's list of mods. (performance oriented). I think he ran like a 13.4...pimp.

Wow, I didn't know rims hurt that much. I understand the physics behind it of course, but didn't know how much that would hurt track times. You're still the man for posting up a 14.5s time slip though!

BobbyRitz = 3125-3/4 tank of gas, no spare, no passenger seat
Ryan-Black G = 3600
Osix-Mike = 3170 **I told you the 06's werent heavier
Rico(sp?) Nightshade = 3170
Booby Ritz-Rob = 3500
Project Sherv = 3450
Ben-Poopra = 3160
Kirk-Orange Z = 3160
Bob-Silverstone = 3230
Integrity-Charles = 3180
David = 3060 *Lightest Z there
Mike-MDRacer = 3290
Tony-EVO = 3190
Last but not least Brents roadster aka The tank = 3770

There are many racers here who are much better than me. But thanks for the compliment. In May 2006 I raced with a bunch of 350Zs at Maryland International Raceway. We weighed our cars, and the results are above. A Enthusiast with 17-inch wheels isn't cool. But pounds kill ET.

Dont know how I missed this post...I did track the Z before when I first got it but I didnt beat on it....I did a best of 14.3 @ 98 without reving the **** out of it...Break in you know Went to ET on a test and tune night in October or Sept when I first got the car. Probably had bout 800 or so miles on it at the time..I was happy with that mph considering it was my first pass in the Z as I was used to running fwd at the track...Havent been back since yesterday...

I felt the off the line sluggishness when I first put on the 20's so I knew it affected the performance from a dig but whenever I run with Z' stock tired or not[from a roll not dig] Im always dead even with them from a roll.... So I assumed that the 20" would only "greatly" affect the "ET" and probably drop the mph by 1 0r 2 mph based on how well I kept up with other Z's......The 5-7mph hit at the track yesterday was crazy and very unexpected....Ive since learned from Adam@Z1 that on the dyno 20" also register a hp loss if I understood him correctly...All in all it was a learning experience....If I had a rolling start I would have done much better in et and mph

Ok first off I expected to be slow just not that ok bub...Ive been saying from day one that on track the 20" arent ideal...Check any post of mine you will never see me not admitting that. Street is different from track ..As I stated I didnt expect to take a 5-7mph hit along with the slow et based on how well I did from a roll races...I expected a 1-2mph hit....Anyone that buys 20" rims knows it will hurt optimal performance...We get it for looks...When are people like you going to realize that
