Very humbling day at the track
I'll agree that you have always admitted that on the track the 20's will show it weekness. You have been already critized for your wheels many times before, and that is always your answer.
I have also heard that bigger wheels will actually show a loss in hp on a dyno too.
I agree with you too. I knew that you wouldnt be lighting up the track or anything with them on, but I would have also expected a better trap just because of how you keep up with many other Z's, with clearly lighter rims. Oh well, you live and you learn. The SSR's are pretty sweet, but why bother when you already have sweet wheels. Just get the 555r's or a set of BFG's for your stockers. That is if you have the 17"s, if not they are cheap enough anyway!

Pete just busting your *****, the rims kill performance. Imagine this on my car the wheels weigh about 16lbs each but with tires 37lbs. So on a 20 inch wheels that much tire is just going to add even more weigh so don't put 100 percent of the blame on the rim alone. Either way you need to get something cheap for track so stockers seems to be your best bet.
On a side note almost bought a 350 Track for the lil'est brother, you know who. We had cash in hand and was about to sign the contract when the theiving dealer knowing he had to make full disclosure pulls out a few sheets of paper showing repairs , body work etc. This after claiming the car was paint free......I left out 9 hours of negoiations and bull****, but basically I laughed and told them now the price must change. They tried fancy fiduciary mumbo jumbo but I have experience and basically said give the cash back. Either way my lilbro is broken hearted that I killed the deal. I tried calling you but no answer give me a ring today I want to talk about getting him another one, hopefully you can help?
Thanks Dean P.S: God knows why he wantsa slow Z? LOL

Gotta love stealerships that will hide that info. till last minute as if they are just gonna slip it in. I feel bad for the people that fall in love with a car before they sign, learn something really sh*tty about the car, but buy it anyways because they had their hearts set on it and whined up with a money pit. Your lil'bro might be mad at you but good looking out. They are plenty more of "slow" Z's to get for him. Its no subaru though! lol!

Hey Dean my slowww Zzzzz roughed up a Subie WRX today so take that....So what if it wasnt an STi....Would have been the same result anyway right?
The touring wheels are actually pretty heavy. They are in the ballpark of 26lbs-28lbs I believe. The track wheels only weigh about 18lbs or so. Touring wheels are not really worth that much money either though, so I wouldnt expect more then $500-$600 for the set tops.
Definitely would be the same outcome with an STI too, obviously!!!

Wow, I dont feel so bad about my 14.1 @ 100 now in my auto.
Well practice makes perfect! There is always room to improve..get the stock wheels back on first though.
Davidv what lightening mods did you do to your Z? Did you remove the passenger seat ?
